My wife and I stayed at the Marble Inn Resort, NL on August 25, 2018.
We stayed at this establishment only one night but the impressions made by two of the staff will last a long time and they deserve major kudos.
When we arrived we were greeted by Lola at the front desk. She was not only professional and knowledgeable but she immediately made us feel at home. She helped us with our bags into the elevator and even offered to help us carry them up the stairs from our vehicle. When we informed her that we would be leaving early the next morning, before breakfast hour, she told us that either she or someone else would be there early enough to permit us to have breakfast before it officially opened for other guests. When we left our room in the morning, we could not get the elevator to work, but Janet (the Baker) showed up and not only did she help us with our luggage, she welcomed us into the breakfast area and was almost tripping over herself to make sure we knew what was available and offered any help we needed. She even provided us with a couple of small cake-type boxes so we could take a few things with us for the road (we were heading to the PAB ferry). And the baked goods available were to die for and the home made granola was so good I asked her for the recipe and she actually emailed it to me! And by the way, Lola showed up early for work and was also there offering her help.
My wife and I have travelled extensively (all 7 continents) and we have stayed at hundreds of hotels, etc. But it's not often that one gets treated as we were at Marble Inn Resort. This is proof that the most important asset of any accommodation is not the physical structure and amenities, but the people that make it all work. Of course, the Marble Inn is a fine place and the only criticism we have is that the elevator needs work, although we were only on the second floor, so not a major issue.
We highly recommend this resort and next time we will stay longer. Ed &...
Read moreMy family and I (spouse and 2yr old twins) recently stayed in one of the 2 bedroom condos.
It’s actually not my first time staying. It was probably about the 4th time. I always get the 2br condo suites. However it was the first with my family. In my past stays I’ve enjoyed myself. Haven’t had any issues. So I expected the same this time around too. With two busy toddlers I assumed this was the best option for us instead of an air bnb. It had enough space for them to play and keep busy during our time inside, a tub for bathing, and there were no stairs or anything that really needed any kind of ‘toddler proofing’. However my biggest concern which we learned very quickly was with the front door. One of my kids was able to grab the handle and open the door with ease. The door does have one of the inside security locks but its one that automatically unlocks when the handle is pulled up or down. It also has an alarm that starts beeping when it’s been unlatched and the door has been slightly ajar for too long but the alarm is very very quiet. There is no way we’d hear it while asleep. Also locking the bedroom doors also were not an option as they’re the push button locks that unlock when the handle is moved. So my husband and I we unable to unpack out suitcase to totally settle in as we needed it full and heavy to use to block the door to stop them from escaping. It was very disappointing. I would love to see them implement some other security like one of the chain or bar locks higher up on the door.
Aside from that we didn’t really have any other concerns mostly just knit-picky insignificant stuff such as more hangers or more than 1 frying pan (they brought us another one when asked). The staff were friendly and helpful. The food at Madisons was great (could use better hours though). The property and location is beautiful. We would definitely stay again, but probably not for a couple more years when I’m not so worried about my kids running out...
Read moreMay have been 4.5 star at one point, but this "resort" is showing its age and is looking tired and run-down: Cobwebs in the corners of the rooms, dirty floors on check-in, light fixtures missing bulbs, kitchen appliances looking rough and worn. TVs are not smart and are limited to 12 channels of in-house cable. The main hallway of the condo building has a musty smell all throughout and the doors to the building do not lock, meaning anyone can just get off the highway and walk right into your building without going thru reception or any type of security checkpoint. Restaurant isn't open on Mondays and doesn't open until 4pm the rest of the week. I called to check out a day early (travel plans changed) and was told they required 48hrs notice or no refund.... I stay in hotels quite often for work and have never been penalized for checking out early. Reception staff are either curt and patronizing or teenagers who seem to wish they were anywhere else. Location is nice but I wouldn't spend anymore money here. I've also never stayed at 4.5 star facility that nickles and dimes you over face cloths and towels ($25/towel if it's too dirty) - all in all just another NL business pretending to be...
