Very new building. Stayed in a seperate unit with bunk beds and was perfect for our stay. Would be great for longer stays as well as has a lot of room for clothes and a stoked kitchen. Small area though.

I have both pros and cons. Firstly, I must state that we booked fairly last minute and were able to get a room at far less than the 3 star and five star hotels closer to the village were charging. Pros: -modern fixtures and very comfy bed. -rm had a large window overlooking private woods with beautiful snow covered trees. -employees directed us to transportation and shuttle schedules in order to get to the village. -front desk called to warn us about poor road conditions on our way. -the bistro downstairs has the absolute BEST Americano you will find, and great value for their breakfast burritos, etc. Cons: -although they called us to warn us of the road conditions, they did not tell us they had been out of power for the whole day. We we're not prepared for the darkness that ensued. Let me just say that camping would have been more glamorous than that first, very expensive, very dark night. Needless to say there were also no compensations for this very unfortunate situation for everyone. -a 20 hour power outage can be very frustrating for a hotel/hostel. But it's also VERY frustrating for customers paying premium prices for a room on new years eve. We were surprised that more efforts weren't made by the hotel to ease our mind or apologize for the inconvenience. At times we felt that frustrations were actually being taken out on us and other employees. I wondered several times on the phone if the brash tone I was experiencing was something a little more than a miscommunication between myself and the business. As newcomers to the resort and area I wasn't made to feel exactly welcome when my questions were met more than once with a heightened tone that I can only describe as mockery. -when the lights finally came back on we noticed that the dishes in our room were not clean. -there were very few towels and no dishtowel for the kitchenette. -the room was almost too small for two people to occupy (it was a very awkward space; questionable design decisions were made in the bedroom - absolutely no place to put your bags without literally tripping on them). -lastly: there is no safe way to get to the village without driving at night. Shuttles end early, and taxis were not in operation while we were there despite having confirmed about taxis running upon booking. -Walking on the road was our only option since we were headed out for drinks.

Hopefully they find a way to improve guests' experience during storms. I would think complimentary candles or LED lanterns, or at least a courtesy call about a power outage would be standard issue so we could have at least picked up our own before heading up the mountain. Pretty displeased with the hotel customer service and some of the amenities in the room. Lots of potential!

**The Bistro is awesome however, and IMO is totally worth the short drive or ride down the mountain (at the base of the Burfield lift) for...

I do not usually write reviews as I choose not to spread a single bad experience and at the same time, I don't believe every positive experience needs a review. I'm a very busy person that does not have the time to do such things. So, when I write a review, an exceptional circumstance must have occurred.||In this particular case of The Burfield, it was an exceptionally great experience for many reasons. Here are a few personal things I appreciated. |1. The property is Keyless. Everything is by codes from the moment you enter the building to your room|2. Everything is well designed and thought of. The entire building is smart. From Occupancy sensors to turn on common areas in use, so lights turn off when not needed, to guest Laundry system which is also smart and cool to use|3.a. Geographical location is nestled well in nature, I had spend 2 night here for work Starting on Sept 5/2018 and fact of how relaxing and how the nature is just beautifully encompassed into the property made me extend my stay by two more nights to just unwind from life!|3.b. Geographical location is also important as it is a true ski in and out property with in mere meters of the Burfield 4 person chair lift right at the start of Sun Peaks. No need to go to the Village. I can't wait to come back in the winter!!! I believe this property is well suited for the average "Ski Bum" and nature lovers alike. |4. Smart stuff, All the TV's are smart, with Netflix preloaded just sign in with your Netflix account or Amazon Prime, or Google Movies then sign out before you leave. Simple! One day I started to toast a bagel and didn't realize it was on a high setting and went out for a smoke, came back to a burnt bagel but no some in the room and realized the microwave oven hood fan had automatically came on to exhaust the smoke. So very cool and helpful.|5. Furniture and everything else are functional. Not Fancy, but Functional and comfortable. What else do you need?|6. Staff, super caring and kind|7. with the smart systems, I asked to have different code assigned to my room and it was granted quickly and with very little effort on my part.||So what really impress me was the fact that I don't have to carry a card or key around that I might lose or forget it somewhere, and if I lose it someone could access my room. Or when you try and can't find your room key in your pockets, all you need is your finger and mind!||Also there a tranquil creek behind the property, if found myself escaping to the bridge that goes over this creek. It is so peaceful in summer and I could only imagine how awesome it will be in the winter silence of the night!||So all an all, this is must place to visit, so far, I have written almost 3000 characters and wish I could type more, but words can not always describe feelings. It is best to experience it for yourself and you tell others how it...

Possibly the best hostel/lodge to rest your head in Sun Peaks! We drove from Kamloops and arrived at a spectical of a building. Just before we did arrive, on the side of the building in big bright lights was “The Burfield”, making it extremely easy to find. (Very newly developed as told by the staff). The staff were very helpful in welcoming me, answering any questions I had about the building or the mountain, asking if they could help me and my girlfriend with our luggage, the guy at reception also assisted us in booking our ski passes from the time we were staying and printed them off.

They did also inform us that some of the facilities in the lodge were unavailable, but having gone to their website before booking we noticed they were the CHEAPEST by far on the mountain and also saw that all of these unavailable facilities weren’t advertised, which I thought was fair.

During our stay we booked the queen or “Queen Pod” as they referred it too. It came equipped with a coffee maker, cooking utensils, hot plate, fridge, eatware, cutlery, table, chairs, private bathroom, tv and other features which brought the room together. Unfortunately, as they told me due to them waiting on telus we weren’t able to watch television, but I was assured soon after my departure these issues would be fixed. No matter though as we connected the tv to wifi and watched Netflix.

My favourite part which is why we booked The Burfield in the first place, was that it’s a ski in ski out as advertised on their website. It gave us very easy access to the lift (literally a 1min walk across the road from the building to the Burfield chair lift), instead of having to go the the village, find a park, wait in line etc etc.

The big problem I had with this place is that I won’t be able to come back until next season, as I really enjoyed my time there. Although not everything was finalised I saw great potential in what the building will be instead of what it is now and you would be foolish not the recognise it. Overall the staff were extremely professional and courteous, the room was beautiful and clean, building was super and I’m very much looking to my return. I would and will defiantly recommend it to all my friends and family down...
