When we called to book our cottage we requested a 3 bedroom with a lakeview. When we arrived we got a 3 bedroom with a sliver, between many other cottages, of the lake. The house beside use was 5 feet away and it was being built during our stay. There was no way we could even sit on the patio throughout the day because of the construction noise. There was 4 adults and 2 babies and the babies would not be able to nap with this construction noise. we paid a lot of money to have a relaxing, quiet vacation. We called within 10 minutes of arriving. We were moved to another cottage at the very top of the resort which was a 2 bedroom loft with lakeview. the view was amazing but we really wanted 3 bedrooms so while it may have been an ‘upgraded’ view, the home itself was a downgrade for us. We waited about an hour before we could move to the new cottage as it had to be cleaned and then no one knew the code to get in so we waited another 30 min outside to get the right code. I should also mention when we woke up Tuesday morning there was construction across from us and 2 houses down from us that started at 730am. We arrived at the resort on a Monday and on the Tuesday we had put some things in the fridge but the fridge seemed to not be cold. We thought that it was the temperature just not being set right so we adjusted it and went on with our day. Wednesday morning we went into West Kelowna to pick up the cake and all the groceries for the dinner we had planned (which was all a surprise) for that evening. When we got back in the early afternoon the fridge was not cold and at that point we knew something was not right. We called guest services and they sent someone up too look at it and he called the appliance guy and said that he would be there shortly. We went to the pool as we werent going to wait around the cottage on a nice day. We got back an hour later there were 2 dirty coolers with ice in them in our place. I called guest services and was advised that they left the coolers as all the food needs to be taken out of the fridge so the appliance guy can try and fix it. We couldnt fit all our stuff in the coolers. By the time the guy came back it was about 5ish. He took the fridge apart and said people leave these fridge doors open for too long and the fridge freezes up from the air that gets in. The appliance guy did fix the fridge but that was at about 7pm when he left. We had to cancel the dinner and food spoiled and the cake was ruined from being left out all afternoon/evening.
I spoke to BRAD (manager) on Thursday and I explained our entire week to him and how it has been unpleasant. Then I went into detail about how our dinner was ruined, food was spoiled, $130 cake was ruined, someone flew in from Sask, etc. Brad’s first response to this was that we had to much food in the fridge which caused the fridge to freeze up. I was in complete shock. I could not believe that he was blaming us for the fridge freezing up. Especially since the majority of food in there was only in there for a few hours before the guest services person came and checked it out. He continued to repeat that we had too much food in the fridge basically saying it was our own fault and then offered to have signs put up on fridges asking for ppl to not put too much food in the fridge. he was making excuse after excuse after excuse for this happening and said we were upgraded for free to a lakeview anyways already. I told Brad we requested a lakeview when we called to book and that our expectation was that, thats what we paid for. Then I told him our welcome email we received prior to arriving showed ‘3 bedroom lakeview’ and his response was ‘that was a mistake’. Not one time did Brad say ‘I am so sorry for your experience’. Brad told me he was call me back the next day to see if there was anything they could do. I went to rent a golf cart on thursday and the girl said ‘we are giving you one free day’ with no explanation. I never heard from...
Read moreI would honestly never stay here again. The view of the lake was beautiful and the pool was nice, but those were about the only good thing about this resort. Right when we walked in, we could tell the place was not clean. For the $500 a night we were being charged, I would have expected the place to be have been cleaned properly. Instead there was garbage on the floors left from the previous tenants, nothings was dusted, there were cob webs in the corners of the rooms and we had to call to get the cleaners to come back as us walking on the floors in bare feet left our feet black and our toddlers were eating the crumbs that were on the floor. There was food splatter on the walls and cupboards that were very visible and should have been cleaned before we left and the carpets upstairs had black marks all over them.
Even if the cleanliness was up to par, there were so many other deficiencies in the rental property that I would not go back. There were blinds missing from the living room (the brackets were there but no blinds) which allowed the sun to come in and make the house super hot. The AC did not work on the upper level. The main floor would stay decently cool but the upstairs was a sauna. We got the maintenance person to come who said there was nothing he could do about it. There were ants, spiders and worms in the rental. We would be sitting on the couch and see ants crawling on the wall. We probably killed 5 spiders and over 20 ants while we were there for 6 days. The front door didn't even latch closed. you had to lock it with the dead bolt or it would just swing open. The dishes, cutlery and utensils were lacking and from the 1980s. It was horrible.
The place is very far away from Kelowna proper so it makes it difficult to get to anything. Overall, the resort expected a lot from us to ensure that the rental was "clean" or they would charge us additional cleaning fees. I find this very ironic since their cleaning standards are so low already. I would not recommend this...

Here is why.
I have been living in La Casa for about half a year. I'm a long term tenant. Great little cottage village. However, I am restricted access to the owner's lounge which has a gym. Even though the owner of my home I live in doesn't even live here, I cannot even utilize the gym.
With nothing to do out here in the winter, you would think I could help tackle mental health issues such as cabin fever by focusing on my physical health. But no. Rules are rules. And due to that, you guys get 1 star.
Now I might as well vent some other issues since I'm taking the time to leave a poor review.
Why is the hot tub only open on weekends, yet is closed at 10pm? And why does the security literally stalk the area, watching the clock, waiting to kick you out when second strikes that time.
Why is everything at the store so over-priced? I would probably grab more essential items here and there, or even snacks, if things like Doritos were not $8 a bag. The economy is bad, but this is legit price gouging.
I understand Ryan is trying everything to make La Casa the best it can be, like having special events, and having movies on weekends, but even then, stuff gets canceled due to "rules".
I feel like this place only caters to the so-called tourists passing through or staying. There is no focus on what the people who live here really want. Especially the ones who are renting out here. All these rich cottage owners are renting their places for the fall/winter/spring, but the renters are so limited in this place!
Now you understand why I hate it here. I loath this place. Once I leave, I'm really hoping I never have to come back.
I hope your "rules" of not allowing renters to utilize the gym is worth this...
