The hostel itself is amazing. It is very modern, clean, with great facilities and wifi - only built in the last couple of years. And it has been built with style and attention to detail. The whole place is saturated with gorgeous wood. The cosy living room features a fireplace, comfortable couches and a thick rug. There are thick woollen crocheted socks for guests to wear indoors. A simple veranda affords views of the backyard sloping down towards the water, with the hills and mountains rising up dramatically on the other side. My bedroom itself was deluxe, featuring two queen beds, heating, and a spacious bathroom with endless hot water. The place was very well looked after by Rubén. He made your bed each day, gave you fresh towels, and prepared for us delicious and generous breakfasts of toast, cheese, home-made jams made of kiwi fruit and blackberry, coffee, tea, and fresh pear & apple juice.||||Don’t pay attention to what the other English-language review says. “Downtown” Cochamo is just a few scattered minimarkets. Our room with shower and WC was simple, clean and restful. An incredibly attentive and friendly host, who overcame our pathetic lack of Spanish, with breakfast waiting for us when we emerged from our slumbers. It's not possible to cook there, so you are dependent on a tiny pizza place at the camp site in the village (well worth it) or restaurant Olita, which turned out hopeless for vegetarians, but good for salmon eaters! A much recommended hostel, although a little tricky to...
Read moreYes! Of all the places I stayed during my two months in Patagonia, this one stands out as one of the very best. The hostal itself is very comfortable and beautifully designed. Nico and Ruben are wonderful people and go out of their way to make sure you are cared for during your stay. Right now, Hostal Cochamo might be Chile's best kept secret. But not for long!||||Just one note: Hostal Cochamo makes a wonderful retreat, but if you wish to be in "downtown" Cochamo, you'll find the walk there a bit long (about a mile). Otherwise, this is a great place to unwind and pamper yourself before and/or after your Cochamo...
