I did not stay at the lodge, but ate dinner at the restaurant every night I was in O'Higgins. I liked it so much I didn't even think about trying to eat anywhere else! The food was local, authentic and absolutely delicious! And the portions were large, perfect after a long day of exploring and hiking. I especially loved the soup and salmon :) I got to talking with the owner (through my broken spanish) and she helped me order what I wanted every time. On my return trips she even gave me food and desserts she learned I liked! We also talked about the area and getting out of Chile, as I was there just before the Coronavirus shut down travel. She and everyone at Entre Patagones treated me so well. Cannot recommend it...

There isn't a written version and don't expect a wine list - but the welcoming people there are very good at making themselves understood by guests whose Spanish is as poor as ours. As for the wine, you are just invited to go and have a look at the bottles available (none of them overpriced). The price of the meal was the same whatever three options we chose. It's a lovely warm place even on a cold February evening. We had three days at this far end of our drive along the Carretera Austral and ate there every night. Highly recommended. ...
Read moreIt's a set menu with "meat or fish" but it's simply delicious. It feels like you are at someone's house really getting a lovely home cooked meal. Starters were these really tasty avocados with some kind of stuffing, no idea what but fabulous. Then a kind of stewed beef with rice, so warming and so yummy. Dessert was a bit random- half a canned peach but I think something was probably lost in translation and my high school Spanish isn't cutting it! Worth a visit...
