Howard Johnson by Wyndham Olmue — Hotel in Olmué

My sons and I stayed in Olmue towards the end of January and I must say I was impressed with this place: the apart hotel. The apart hotel rooms (think departmento) are basically two rooms separated by the bathroom. It is quite open plan. The master bedroom has a large and modern TV hanging on the wall with the normal cable TV available. The other room is like the living room / kitchen. It has the single beds in it for the children.||||Everything was clean; toilets, sheets, floors, kitchen area. I had no complaints there.||The location is good. It’s on the road to Parque Campana. Drive down into the high street and there is the supermarket and pharmacy and most of things you may need.||||The place has a restaurant. I found this to be on the expensive side, but of good quality. Food is great; simple and tasty. The manager and waiter we had were really nice and accommodating. ||||They have a large swimming pool which is really the focal point of the place. It felt like it was 20m long, quite shallow. The pool is nice for play (we had a good water polo match) and getting a few lengths done. The pool area could do with some more places to sit/lie with shade. Folks do the normal put out their towels in the morning and don't use their beds...

This must have been the worst hotel I've ever stayed. It had great ratings on here (trip advisor), and so we went ahead and booked this hotel through RCI. I am giving it a 2 star only because the receptionist lady was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. We were able to check in earlier than 3pm which was nice. The apartment hotel is surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is quiet, peaceful, so it's possibility one can relax at this place. The main pool was nice, but all the other pools were empty and under construction. Some of the glass railing around the pool was broken. The only restaurant in the property was closed at lunch time (I would think they will be open at that time).||The room was definitely not what I expected. Everything was old and need maintenance. It was clean, very basic, and they don't turnover your room everyday. It was just not for us, so we ended up leaving on our 2nd day and stayed at other hotels in Chile. We were in Chile for 7 days. It may be good enough for others who are looking for a place just to spend the night. It just looked like a hostel for us. It may work for others, but it was just below our standard for accommodation. ||Unfortunately, the wifi did...

First of all our host was a true gentleman. He worked in the cruise line industry. It was all DOWN hill from there. This place is a DUMP. Antiquated and dirty. RCI should be ashamed to list this place and should refund points or cash to anyone who books it. The reviews from 2-3 years ago were good and we got sucked in. You will be uncomfortable for your safety here. Could only take it for 2 nights and had to leave. HoJo’s of South America rates less than zero. I have to put down one star or else I can’t rate it.
