Absolutely wonderful place and surroundings to go with it; away from the madding crowds so to speak; basically, a wooden spacious property with rustic-type accommodations offering excellent cuisine; a very cosey withdrawing room to either sit and contemplate the wonderful scenery around you or, to read a book sitting comfortably in one of the 2 soft sofas; there is a tv, too in case one has the unlikely urge to see what's happening around the world...; lovely smallish garden with pool to cool off in; an oasis of peace in which to relax and leave all troubles behind you; super friendly service all round (Don Guillermo and staff did their best to make us feel at home)..there is no Wi-Fi connection just in case...but this, too helps to disconnect and unwind without all the trash messages one receives these days..; we stayed 5 days/ nights there and enjoyed every minute of it wholeheartedly..if you are seeking to get away from it all, la CASONA DISTANTE is a MUST👍✌👏...and incidentally, there is a private observatory near the premises; Don Guillermo will only be too happy to organise a viewing of "moon and stars", if you happen to be in a mood to do so and gaze out at our wondrous universe🌌⛼🌒🌠🌟🌟well, hope this just about made up your mind to pick up the phone and book a stay there 👏👏👏..you won't be disappointed I can...
Read more5 weeks in Chile and staying here was the biggest mistake of the entire trip. There is no privacy here, you can hear everything in the adjacent rooms and anyone walking by your doors. Parents let their children run wild. It is insulting, rude and obnoxious. Dogs barking at night also ruin the ambiance. ||They charged me Chilean 19% taxes despite having a passport and immigration paper excluding me from paying this tax. They say different things to justify this but foreigners staying less than 59 days in Chile do not pay this tax. I DID NOT PAY THIS TAX ANYWHERE ELSE IN CHILE. I repeat, I did not pay this tax at any other hotel, cabaña or lodge in all of Chile. Somehow these people think that they are the only place in all of Chile that can charge foreigners this tax. I don't think so.||Anyone who knows what Elqui Valley is about will be extremely dissatisfied with the experience here. Others, who are oblivious to the peace and tranquility on offer in this valley will likely drink and smoke to excess and have a nice time, while ruining the holidays of others. Stay here at your own peril.||If like me you have travelled far to experience the Elqui Valley the way it was meant to be experienced, look down the road a bit further, an authentic...
Read moreWe stayed a few days at this beautiful place!||We were warmly welcomed by Claudio. He showed us to our room and all the possibilities the place had to offer.||||They had a small swimming pool, filled with fresh mountain water, which made the dive REALLY COLD! You could stroll around the place or go visit the town of Elqui below. ||||The breakfast, lunch and dinners were well taken care of by him and his colleague. You could taste the passion for cooking in his foods. Definitely a must try while there!||The hotel room was spacious and the bed was so comfy that we had issues getting out. ||I enjoyed a massage from Pia, which brought me back in balance and full relaxation. ||||In all we said we will be back and that is a promise! Hopefully next year we will visit Casona once again! This time without an earthquake please, which was quite an experience.||||Muchas gracias Claudio y el team de...
