We rented a cabin for 5 nights in May, for a mini vacation and had the most relaxing experience in years. ||||You will find this very simple but amazing place far deep into the valle. The owner, Paulina, is the most charming relaxing person we have ever had the pleasure to meet. She has created a sustainable oasis in these beautiful surroundings where the only sounds you hear are those made by nature (birds, water, breeze etc). There is no phone signal so you soon forget about being connected 24hrs. There is no TV, so you finally get to sit down and read a book. There is no electricity, just the fire place and candle lights in the evening. If you are constantly on the go, after a couple of days here, your rhythm will slow down, time will slow down and you will find yourself finally noticing your surroundings. ||||When was the last time you actually looked up and watched the stars? Out here they feel so close and the moon shine so bright you don't need light. The silence at night and the fresh air puts you to sleep so easily. After a while your body simply adopts to the rhythm around you, you go to bed when its dark, and naturally wake up (no alarms!) when the sun begins to rise. This is not a luxury 5 star stay, but you have everything you need for great comfort and relaxation, in your charming cabin. We enjoyed breakfast and other meals we prepared in our cabin, on the terrace, overlooking the valle and mountains around us. Paulina also prepares breakfast, if you want. We got so relaxed we saw no need to leave and go into town (after the initial valle exploration days) to be in contact with the rest of world. This was like a little paradise just for us. We did no see anybody unless we wanted to, the whole day. You feel more connected to nature than ever before. One week out here felt like a month of rest, and the experience is the BEST luxury I have ever had. Highly...
Read moreThis unique little haven is literally at the end of the road. The cabins are comfortable and charmingly rustic (though clean!) and Paulina offers great service. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests. Presumably at some point in the past, the cabins had solar power, though now it's only candles! (I believe the stove and fridge are gas powered.) At first we were a little hesitant, but we gave in to the natural rhythms of the valley and began to really relax. I haven't slept so deeply (or dreamed so vividly!) in a very long time. The river has a little swimming hole and amazing beach, and since it comes directly from an underground glacier just across the boarder with Argentina, it's crystal clear (we drank it after letting it sit in the sun for a few hours--no problems and it tastes like heaven) but also shockingly cold! Really refreshing after hours of reading and lounging in the sun.||There's a real sense of community that forms with the other cabins. Our neighbors were French honeymooners, long-time return visitors from the US and an adorable Chilean family. Paulina sets up a bonfire sometimes and we had delightful conversations. Breakfast is communal, too.||I can't recommend this place highly enough. It might take a couple days to completely unplug, though after that the only thing that might disturb you is a fox chattering in the night. Bring lots of sunscreen and a warm sweater because the desert nights are cold and tough the cabins are cozy, you'll be out on the deck with the most spectacular star-scape...
