The hotel sits on a hill about 2 blocks above the San Antonio Harbor, offering great views of the port and vast ocean views. Unfortunately, the cute little cottage-like cabins are in need of upgrades and general maintenance. Nothing that should prevent you from staying here - but it could be so much better with some modernization.||The rooms are small, with very little room to place luggage. They have a small table, but not really big enough for even one person to eat at. Windows and doors don't fit as tightly as they should. Small bathroom with very limited amenities. Water was hot but shower was small, and had a curtain that was difficult to keep inside the stall. Bed was comfortable, but bedding was well-worn.||There isn't much (shopping or fast food) in the immediate area, but the hotel does have it's own restaurant (not a large menu) in a separate building. As the hotel is near the port and on a hill, it is a 20 minute walk to city center. Not difficult until the return. Then it's a long uphill stroll. Good walkways and places to stop along the way to view the harbor. Opposite direction has a small mall just off the harbor. There are several restaurants as you follow the street down to the harbor (then a long climb back to the hotel). There is also a fish market near there and some souvenir stalls along the promenade. Mall has basic stores. There are a couple of choices to find a good cup of coffee inside.||The staff are fantastic. Extremely helpful in offering suggestions on where to go, what to do, securing taxi when needed. Hotel is approx. 5 minute taxi ride to the cruise ship terminal. Walkable if you don't have luggage. ||Overall I'd stay here again and do recommend this hotel. But if you're flying in for a cruise, most people would be happier staying in Santiago, Vina Del Mar or Valparaiso, then taking the bus to San Antonio the morning the...
Read moreThis hotel is ideal for a one night stay before you go on a cruise. After the cruise you wouldn't want to stay in this hotel as the contrast between stateroom luxury on a cruise liner and this basic hotel is immense. More on that later. San Antonio cruise terminal is merged with the cargo terminal. The hotel is about 8 minutes away by taxi which costs around 100 pesos. The hotel reception will book the taxi for you. Here are some pros and cons :||Pros:||• Location is ideal as the hotel is up on a small hill which overlooks the terminal where cruise ships and cargo ships dock.||• Within walking distance is a supermarket where one can get bottled water (do not drink tap water) and wine to take on a ship if so desired. Remember to pack your wine in your carry on luggage NOT your check in luggage as the ship will make you wait long after departure while they x-ray your check in luggage for wine etc. ||• The hotel restaurant further up on the hill (not where breakfast is served) is absolutely the BEST part of this hotel besides its location. Don't miss it and it's quite reasonable. ||||Cons:||• The hotel is a series of cottages. Furnishing is basic and the room on the small side. There is no air condition but a fan which is fine since even on a hot summer day, the night can turn quite chilly. ||• Pretend you do not see the stucco multi colored walls! ||• Shower is adequate and bed is comfortably firm. Nothing fancy.||• There may be crawling ants in the bathroom but not many.||||Conclusion:||Ideal for a one night stay before a cruise. Restaurant further up on the hill is worth...
Read moreThis place is a dump with no customer service. We arrived at 12:30 pm after a very long day and night of travel and were told we could not check into our room. The manager practically yelled at us that “check in time is 2:00!!” When we did get into the room later, we could not believe how shabby it was. We paid a lot for two nights’ stay – way more than it was worth, so I looked up online what the rate was for that night and it was less than half what we were paying. I went to the front desk and pointed this out to the clerk and her response was, “our rates change all the time and you booked a long time ago.” I asked her, “if someone came up and asked for a room right now, you would give it to them at this lower rate?” She said yes. I asked her if she understood why I was upset and wouldn’t she feel the same way if she were in my position. She said yes but she couldn’t do anything about it and I would have to talk to the manager who wasn’t there at the time. She didn’t offer to talk to him for me. The next morning, we tried to take showers and there was no hot water. When I told the desk clerk, she just shrugged. No apologies. Nothing. There was zero attempt during our entire stay to make us feel welcome or comfortable. If you have to stay in San Antonio, avoid this place and stay...
