Arrived in the evening, after having suffered a computer malfunction with the car. The old man answered the front door and the proceeds to allow us to park the car. We then proceed to the reception area, we are visiting so to avoid paying the 19% tax we pay in $ cash. This took a very long time as each not was examined for tears ink marks and just old, we had not encountered this in the last 5 places that we had stayed in, and found this to be very frustrating. We signed the book he made copies of our passports and then showed us to the room. The room had two single beds, no closet, a flat screen tv about 12’ off the floor and a split ac above that, one chair and two small tables. At this point, I still did not know who I was talking with as he did not introduce himself, he pointed across a small enclosed courtyard and said breakfast is in there from 08.00 to 10.00. We were tired and just wanted to rest. The next morning, to get hot water to the shower took a very long time, once it arrived it was dangerously hot !! The cold water pressure was poor, so it made controlling the temperature very difficult. I left my partner to sleep longer while I went to try breakfast, the room had I think 5 long tables and settings for about 20, so I thought, busy place. The old man from last night came in and asked me what I want to drink, coffee tea chocolate, I asked for chocolate made with milk, on the table was a jug of what turned out to be tang OJ . The old guy returned with my drink, then in came I think his wife, she told me omelette ham and cheese toast, I said ok. What arrived was two small cobs stuck together with one pice of ham and one piece of cheese, the bread was not buttered, and an omelette that looked it had been cooked the night before. I asked the lady for ketchup, the look I got could have chilled the tang on the table, and she said don’t have, this lady did not speak any English, good job my Spanish is not to bad. The lady returned with a small bowl of grapes, at this point I asked for a refill of my chocolate, I was told no more. The bowl of grapes were old and dehydrated I could not eat them, during this time no other people came to breakfast. I returned to the room to tackle the shower again, I jumped in cold and got out as soon as it started to get hot, the towels provided, would have been better suited to auto body work they were so rough, in the shower there was a dispenser for soap and shampoo, and a soap dispenser by the sink. My partner was now ready for breakfast, she got the same as I did, this time there were other people having breakfast. When I sat with my partner the lady took away the place setting in front of me and the glass, I think she did not want me to have an other drink. Here are a few things we always ask in hotels, where are the fire exits, what is the alarm, a bell a siren, where are the restaurants from here. None of this information was forthcoming. The worst is yet to come, we have been home for five days and the bed bug bites are just starting to fade away. The term could do better is very appropriate here, please let the old folks retire, then let the son take over. We have stayed in many different places all over the world, but never have we stayed in a B&B that only allows one drink and no ketchup. Now the Spanish guests were treated very different, if you do not want international people staying with you then say so, because that is how you made us feel, not wanted. I think I have...
Read moreLove this hotel! Having been travelling around the world for 15 months, I would say this is one of the best accommodations I’ve stayed. The hotel itself is beautiful and authentic. The couple who managed the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We were supposed to stay at another place but due to the protest it was not safe to get there. We booked this hotel last minute and the couple treated us warmly. They helped me booked my shuttle to airport, the lady went to the mini market with me as she didn’t want me to pay tourist(higher) price, they even make me a delicious sandwich for my shuttle that leaves at 3:30am. Unfortunately I only stayed for 1 night for transit, I wish I can stay longer. Their hospitality melts my heart. Thank you so much for...
Read moreWhen you stay in the winter in Santiago, a hotel with good heating facilities is required. Unfortunately this was not provided in this hotel. Even with two heaters the room stayed to cold for our convenience. Also no heating in the bathroom. The shower was good, warm and modern, but as soon as you came out of it, you were cold again. Also the communal areas were too cold. It felt like outside, so it was not comfortable. Breakfast was good and a very personal service. Location, 20 minutes walk from the centre and I had no problems with this. In summer I would stay in this hostal again, but I can not recommend it for the...
