Pulpería Santa Elvira is located in a neighborhood that is more residential than gastronomic. The entrance of the restaurant is not so noticeable, you will be able to locate it since there is a tub with plants outside. Once you go through the small door, you will find a very cozy and charming place. The decoration is remarkable, it will give you the feeling of eating in a very welcoming family home. The atmosphere is chill and cool and the staff is very friendly.
The food is absolutely amazing. They only work with seasonal, fresh and perfectly chosen products. The menu rotates and rarely (if ever) you will repeat a dish. There is not an extensive menu, they will give you a choice between a few options for starters, main dishes and dessert.
Tasting the wine is a must! They have a small but exquisite variety that make a perfect match with the food. They work with small national producers and it is difficult (or rather impossible) to find them in stores. They also sell non-alcoholic beverages such as kombucha and other craft drinks, however, they do not have a menu of cocktails and alcoholic drinks.
I highly recommend visiting this place, I have not met another restaurant that offers a similar experience in Santiago at such a reasonable price (CLP $35-$40k p/p approx). I will definitely come back to enjoy good gastronomy and a wonderful...
Read more3.5/5 Food was between good and great. The congrio dish was the highlight, really incredible. The restaurant is beautiful, it feels special. My problem is mostly with the service. If the restaurant aims at becoming a great one, then it could really improve certain things. The service didn't make it feel like a special occasion. Which is a big disappointment. I will not think very fondly of this experience.
Examples: -waited over 10 minutes for water -we could hear the waiters discussing which tables to serve and referring to customers using adjectives -a few dishes were not properly explained -inconsistent dish explanations: table next to us ordered the same dish but received a more interesting and committed explanation of the dish. -10-15 minute wait in between taking the previous dish and receiving the next one. -the waitress should give the bill to the person who ordered it -we were never asked whether we wanted additional wine or water. The waiters could be a more attentive. -lit was not easy to catch their attention despite the relatively small number of tables. -no thank you or goodbye from the waitress...
Read moreWorst dining experience in my opinion. They don’t give you a written menu, thus the waiter has to explain everything verbally & you are left more confused than ever. For example our waiter said “ this dish is gizzards” - what is it? Is it a stew, a salad or an appetizer ? It was really really really hard to decipher what she was saying and she was so annoyed with any clarifying questions. When I asked her for 5 minutes to decide what to choose she told us that we have to order now as the next guest is coming to dine at our table soon ( the restaurant was 100% empty at that point and it was just us).
Additionally, when I entered the restaurant the waiter asked me if I had any dietary restrictions and I communicated one health related restriction to her. She completely ignored it, so I am not sure why she asked that.
Gross place that is filled with flies and bad attitude from service staff. I would give this place a...
