We stayed at the hotel in Jan 2023 for 6 days and 5 nights (all-inclusive package).
THE LOCATION: Perfect. FYI: There is another more affordable lodging just about 0.5 miles away, and the Ecodome is also nearby.
THE ROOMS: Small and primitive for their price. Livable.
THE BAR: Fair, but the drink menu is pretty limited. Prices are high.
THE RESTAURANT: The food is big on presentation but could be much better in taste. The wait time between courses could be much faster. We eventually chose to eat dinner in the bar (simple sandwiches and pizza) because we were getting tired of the restaurant's service and food.
THE STAFF: The drivers are excellent. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful, and bilingual. Most of the hotel and restaurant staff are friendly and helpful, though not all. Overall, the hospitality skill of the hotel staff is more amateur than professional. See "Safety" section below.
THE TOURS: The tours are great. The choices cover the whole park area. For hiking tours, the screening process needs to be improved. A hiking tour can end up with guests seriously falling behind others and dragging down the whole group.
SAFETY: Safety precautions are seriously lacking. I broke my shoulder when getting off a horse and there was not even an emergency arm sling in the whole hotel/range campus. There is no medical office or nurses on site. In place of a nurse, they sent a hiking tour guide trained in basic first aid, who ended up being the most helpful person involved, making a makeshift sling out of gaiters. It was disheartening that rather than proactively offering help, we had to ask for everything (ice packs, arm sling, transportation to the hospital.) It was clear that there was no protocol for responding to injuries—they seemed to be scrambling to find an ice pack. Even worse was the attitude of the hotel manager, who initially tried to repudiate our account of how the accident occured. Asking, "what would you like us to do" and expecting us to come up with solutions is very different than proactively offering help and coming with ways to alleviate the stress and pain of an injured guest.
Ultimately, after some back and forth discussion, we were provided transportation to the closest hospital, about 2 hours away from the hotel. The hotel did not initially arrange the return taxi and its payment. We saw the taxi driver arguing with the hotel about the fare after our drop off at the hotel. Afterward, the manager never came to ask about my injury, etc. The hotel version of the cause of my injury is different from mine, but I was in no position to pursue any remedy in a foreign country and was scheduled to fly home in 3 days. We never tried to argue for any refunds or special treatment, and it was honestly kind of bizarre how unhelpful and unsympathetic the hotel was.

Read moreI visited Hotel Las Torres during the off-season in April 2024, opting for their 3-night all-inclusive package, and it was an incredible experience! The staff were warm and welcoming right from the start. They arranged a shuttle van to pick me up from Punta Arenas Airport for the 5-hour journey to the hotel. Along the way, we stopped at their ranch, where I enjoyed a delicious, authentic asada lamb meal with a mote con huesillo drink at the end, which was one of my new favorites. We also visited the original owners’ house in the ranch and watched their sheepdog in action, herding sheep. There was a brief stop at a souvenir shop, where we could use the restrooms and shop for some keepsakes.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were given a detailed briefing about the various excursions included in the package. Since I've always wanted to try and loved horseriding, I chose horseback excursions for all my activities, and I can't recommend them enough for riders of all skill levels. For beginners and novice riders, the Lake Nordenskjöld horse ride is perfect. For those feeling more adventurous, I highly suggest the horseback ride to the Enchanted Valley. It involves plenty of fast riding, so make sure you're comfortable galloping for extended periods, but trust me, the breathtaking views make it totally worth it.
I had two amazing horses during my excursions. For the Lake Nordenskjöld and Torres del Paine ride, I rode La Gringa, which I found amusing given the name and me being from the United States. For the more challenging Enchanted Valley ride, I was paired with La Pinconya, a much faster horse usually ridden by the tour guides. Both horses were fantastic, and they made the experience even more memorable.
One of the highlights of my stay was the ride up to the camp for Torres del Paine peak, an unforgettable journey with an amazing view. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the baqueanos and my guide, Valeria, who accompanied me throughout the excursions. They were fantastic, incredibly patient, and helped me become a much more confident rider.
Beyond the excursions, the hotel offered fantastic food at their restaurant, and the rooms were spotless, offering stunning views to wake up to each morning. The friendly, attentive staff made my stay even more enjoyable.
I highly recommend Hotel Las Torres, especially for those who love nature, adventure, and horseback riding. It was truly a fantastic experience, and I hope to...
Read moreThe location is really strategic for those who want to spend a few days in the park for trekking and excursions. The staff is very friendly: from the reception, to the bar, the restaurant to the ladies who bring the chocolate in the afternoon. They are all kind and smiling. The excursion offer is wide. The restaurant has a local high quality menu and also the bar is very good.
The rooms were a disappointment. For a place where the main activities are trekking and horse riding, rooms shouldn’t have the moquette on the floor. Although they are cleaned, the floor remains dirty with residues brought in by trekking boots or horse boots. In addition, the rooms have very thin walls, you hear everything that happens in the corridor, in the reception, at the bar and in the adjacent rooms. With the result that it is difficult to fall asleep and you wake up at 6 am with the first people getting up. A real disaster. In addition, the windows in our room were not well insulated, air came in from the drafts. Another sore point concerns the Wi-Fi service: it works only in common areas and disconnects repeatedly during each session.
