This is a pretty good 3-star hotel on the edge of the Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU / 北外) campus. The lobby is attractive and my room was spacious with a firm and comfortable queen-size bed and a small couch but surprisingly no safe. The hotel is right on the 3rd Ring Road, which is very busy day and night, so if you’re sensitive to noise, get a room out the back facing the BFSU campus. Water pressure and wifi were strong but (as is common in China) you need a VPN or a foreign SIM card to access many Western sites and apps. The hotel has a small gym and a laundry though the instructions for the latter were all in Chinese. It seemed like the staff did not speak English at all, so communication has to be in Chinese or via translation apps. Housekeeping staff were very friendly but not particularly thorough: my bed never got made, they didn’t realize I had run out of shower gel, and I doubt that they vacuum or mop the rooms on a daily basis. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet, which is very much geared towards a local clientele, though with some Western options, and pretty good coffee. There’s no public transport or shopping in the immediate vicinity though there are some convenience stores and a small number of restaurants, including McDonalds. Overall, this is a good option if you have work to do at BFSU for a few days, but it’s not really suited for...
Read moreStayed here five nights. Was not impressed with room: carpet was filthy, bathroom floor was dirty, shower head was clogged and shower had a lot of black mildew, room wallpaper was peeling and cracked, and the furniture was cheap and uninspiring. In addition, the street noise, while something the hotel cannot control, permeated the room at all hours of the day and night. Moreover, even though the hotel is part of Beijing Foreign Studies University, none of its staff--including those at the front desk--could speak any English at all. Even through an interpreter, the staff were inhospitable and unfriendly, unwilling to even post a few stamped and addressed postcards. Strange, since I later learned that the post office was about 300m away. A guest-focused front desk staffer would have been willing to do a kindness for a paying visitor. Given that I have stayed in nicer hotels in Beijing for less money, I wonder why BSFU isn't better at training and...
Read moreI stay here during my trip to Beijing. This hotel is part of BFSU (Beijing Foreign Studies Universities). Location is not too good, you have to walk for about 1km to reach the nearest Subway Station (Weigongcun).||||Staff can't speak English, or they speak English badly. I found it really hard to communicate in English here (and mostly in China too). But this hotel is very near to bus station, but if you want to ride bus, be cautious of the bus stop station, as it is written in Chinese, no romanization as in subway station.||||The room condition is actually pretty nice, the heater is working well (I was traveling during winter), bed are fine, and the water is also working fine. There are LAN cable in the room which you can use for browsing the internet with your laptop, but as in other part of China you can't access Facebook and some other websites due to blocking by...
