Well upon checkin we noticed a heap of drunked men wandering around the lobby, it seemed odd, especially for a 5 star hotel in Beijing, but never the less we ignaored them and made our way to the room. At the room we found it to be so lacking, it was old, and run down, more to come on that. A few other signs of the hotel lacking was the condom packets left for sale on the toliet seat? Really? I went theor with my girlfriend, it seemed really odd to have condcoems for sale in the room? Then there was the shampoo and conditioner and soap that also was charged to the room as an extra if used? In a 5 star hotel? It was late so we went to sleep, and rose a little late, just as breakfast was closing, we went to the concierge and requested they adviose where we may be able to get a breakefast close by, and his answer was McDonalds or Wal Mart down the road, when questined if there was enything else, he pretty much shregged us off and could not care less. After becomming familiar with the hotel, we were made aware of the follwiong; on level 6 there is an internationa club which if in Australia we would just call a brothel, and thats where all the drunken men came from. A note in the room advising to never open the door to strangers knocking in the middle of the night, and to call reception so they can come and address the issue when it happens. We decided to bail out of this hotel early an asked if they would credit us the final night, and surprise surprise they wouldn't as they 'hire the rooms on an hourly basis' !!! OMG, this hotel is just a giant brothel, and some people on Trip Adviser have rated in excellent, my suggestion to their wives would be to get a checkup everytime they stay because they are not staying for the room or the food or the location or the gym let...
Read moreOverall, this is a nice hotel and well located in downtown Beijing. Numerous eateries and can easily get a bike or taxi right outside. The rooms? Very nice and no complaints save one. The air-conditioner like most China hotels only cools to 22 degrees! During the Summer, that just don't cut it!!! Only speaking to the manager got me a room that went down to 20.5 which just made it bearable for me to sleep. First night was just too hot. Seems many Chinese hotels lock the thermostat at 22, even though you tell it to go lower, it won't. My only complaint. Beds are very nice and room is well appointed. First room had a shower/tub.....man, what a mess taking a shower with the floor getting soaking wet.....and I'm careful too! Second room had a walk-in shower in addition to the tub, so that was fabulous. All in all, I was well taken care of. Hey, even though there is no price on it, don't use the shower/bath package or you'll be charged 45 RMB!!!! There is a Starbucks about a 1/4 mile down the road inside a large office building and again, numerous eateries. Hotel restaurants as usual are expensive and nice looking, but not very tasty. Breakfast Buffet is quite large though and has good assortment. Lot's of construction going on locally, so be careful. All in all, I would stay at this hotel again but would make sure I get assigned to a room that the AC can get below 22...
Read moreI got to the hotel after a 14hr flight and 3hrs get out of the airport and driving in to town so I was really ready to rest.||The room they gave me was small, dirty, and smelled of smoke. (apparently non smoking hotel but not really). They changed my room and got me a much nicer and spacier room, cleaner (has definitely seen some wear and tear), and didn't smell. Throughout the night though I was getting hints of smoke through the vent which woke me up.||||Few staff speak english and very little. I tried to go to a restaurant nearby for dinner and no one was capable of giving me directions, or even showing me on a map. ||||I would not recommend staying here if you are not chinese as it was not the level I expected and uncomfortable to not be able to communicate...
