Stayed here 3 times on layover. Excellent location near the airport (10 minute walk or free hotel shuttle every half hour) for early/late flights. Also handy for visiting the city as the airport express subway is at the airport, so you can be in the centre of Beijing in 35 minutes. Hotel is large with a very large and quite impressive foyer. Double rooms are large with generic modern design that is comfortable. Beds are large and very comfortable, being supportive with a soft layer on top. Bathroom is large with a separate area having both bath and shower. Good amount of space on vanity/sink area and feeling of quality all round - only annoying thing that occurs consistently (all 3 rooms i stayed in) is the hairdrier plug is loose and pulls out very easily, so interrupts drying unless you hold the plug in, which is not advisable. WiFi coverage is good and fast, but obviously certain apps, browsers and content available in the west will not work, as in all of China. Breakfast is plentiful with several options between fruit, cereal, pastries, western savoury options (sausage, bacon, eggs etc), fresh egg cooking station (omelette, fried, boiled etc), Asian savoury options, fruit juices and tea/coffee options. Everything is self service, buffet style except tea/coffee, asian soup station and the fresh egg station, which are staffed. Breakfast front of house staff is young and on our last visit, certain of them a little distracted between themselves to the point that the manager had to intervene, so some training required. Reception staff are generally helpful. The gym is large and well equipped for the average gym goer - heaviest free-weights are 20kg dumbells. There is also a quite large aerobic area for pirates, yoga, barre etc. Pool is large and very nice, with good changing facilities and a swimsuit centrifugal drier, which is always handy. On this last stay, the hotel had overbooked and had to offer me an upgrade, which was wonderful and a real luxury experience. Photos are of the Presidential suite. Would definitely stay again (as we...
Read moreI don't know how somebody can write a positive review of this Hotel that is at best on a 3 star level. I write below some of our experiences staying there for 3 nights. I can only explain a high rating of other customers by arriving very late, check-in quickly, then rush to the room, not taking a shower, sleep, take quick breakfast and leave - because in any other situation and circumstance one would notice that this Hotel is really bad. I will never ever return to such a place.
Some of the experiences (not at all exhaustive unfortunately): This hotel is one of the worst we have seen in Beijing so far. The staff is totally uninterested and not at all customer service oriented - we feel though they are not motivated and assume a management issue in this Hotel. Our room had several things not working properly (shower stains, Windows closed !!!! BIG NOGO, Aircon not working well and too hot. The food in the Italien restaurant was simply disgusting - the Pizza was soggy - no surprise it was cooked at 240 degrees and everyone knows that a Pizza oven should heat up to 430 degrees Celsius. Also they made one pizza at the time (took 10 minutes per pizza and soggy nevertheless !) and we had ordered 4 of them - so we had each a separate meal - that is a level of a 5 star hotel ? That is kidding !!!!! In the swimming pool the jacuzzi did not work, some of the tiles are coming off and one sharp piece of broken tile almost cut my foot when stepping on it by accident - the guard in the swimming pool was more concerned with his smart phone rather than willing to respond to a question from us. I mean i could go on and on - this is at best 3 star and when looking at the advertising of the Hotel then it is just a joke how the reality does NOT match the marketing. We also saw that the Hotel offers Massage -but we were told, that nobody is there to work. So, sorry to say - but this is an insult to 5 star category hotels anywhere in the world - and we happily provide the rating that this...
Read moreThis hotel has nice room amenities and 24hr shuttle service. However, this hotel is not yet ready for prime time for foreigners quite yet. There's not a big selection of food options in the hotel. It's either room service or just western-based dining in their in-house restaurant. If you have someone in your group that speaks Chinese, then you should be good to go. However for other foreigners (as an Asian myself), there is a low-level of travel-level language competency with all the staff here - and that is WITH using visual translator apps as aids in communication. For example, I had a laundry request that was placed @ 5:40am in the morning at the front desk (one pair of pants to be folded only). I expected that this laundry would be ready by later in the afternoon or evening that same day. After discovering that my laundry was not available in my room @ 4:30pm, I was told by the receptionist that the pants would be ready by 10:30 the following morning. However, I was checking out the following day @ 4:30am in the morning because my flight was leaving at 7:00am. The receptionist then said that the pants could be ready by 7:30pm that night. Then I was told that the laundry requests were actually done off-site and would be delivered at 10:00pm instead. Then I was told again that the pants would be ready before we checked out the following morning. The pants did come to before we checked out at 4:30am the following morning. The expectation in every 4-star or 5-star hotel that I've stayed (around the world) is that when laundry requests are made well in advance in the morning then that laundry would be ready that same night (at the latest) - not after 36 hours after. Very surprised and disappointed because there was no clear set up time that was communicated on paper over verbally by...
