Awful -
First, we got two adjoining rooms and one of the rooms the toilet was practically in the middle of the main area. There was a kind of partition you could slide but it still left a gap of almost 3 feet that couldn't be closed off so everyone in both of the rooms got to enjoy all the sounds and smells.
Second, we got "non-smoking" rooms but it smelled like we were sleeping in smoldering ashes. After sleeping in those beds for one night we could smell cigarette smoke on our skin and in our kids hair. It seemed to suffuse all the bedding, which we were not even remotely convinced had been changed from the previous guests, and it seemed to be being pumped in live through a communal air ventilation system.
Third, speaking of air ventilation... that brings up another point. As far as we could tell, the air system is not remotely independent. The only thing you can control is the fan speed. If it's chilly outside, they have the heater on and you can't turn it off. You can only turn it up. This means you have two choices: Boil yourself in sweat while covering yourself in a thick layer of cigarette smoke... or simply simmer yourself in a thin layer of sweat with a light seasoning of fresh cigarette smoke. If you're like us and you need to sleep cool, go somewhere else, at least in the winter. Maybe the A/C works in the summer, I don't know... but in early March, you won't sleep well at all.
Misc: mattresses and pillows were super cheap and uncomfortable (kind of expected I guess), no top sheet and no indication that the comforter ever gets washed or replaced so you're probably sharing a bed with many people. There's no pool, which I guess is my fault because I could've sworn wherever I booked from said there was, but just to be clear, in case you saw whatever I did... there is no pool.
Food: There is a convenience store below with 1/2 empty shelves and nothing you'd recognize to eat other than snickers bars and lays brand potato chips... but the chips tasted very wrong and we ended up throwing them away. the snickers were good. lol There were also a couple of very dicey looking restaurants in the shopping center below that my wife and kids refused to even enter after one of them got sick from eating some local food elsewhere... so I can't tell you how good or bad it is, other than it looked and smelled off-putting to our American palettes, but your mileage may vary. We walked a couple of blocks in the cold to get to KFC. We tried their hotel breakfast and it was full of what looked like a cheap Chinese food dinner buffet... very pungent and unappetizing. Nothing in the buffet that even remotely looked like anything a European/American would consider a breakfast food... other than a tiny bit of something that looked like a corn flakes analogue but it still tasted very wrong. I tried a roll and it was hard as a rock... when I broke it open thinking maybe it was just a very crisp outer layer... the inside was so dry it literally crumbled to dust... like they'd pulled it out of a World War II army ration. Everybody left hungry.
Summary: It's the only place we stayed in China, so we really don't know how it compares... but by European/American standards it was terrible. I'd try somewhere else. You...
Read moreWe stayed one night at this hotel near Beijing Daxing Airport, and found it to be a very convenient stopover option. The complimentary shuttle bus service was efficient, arriving within 15 minutes of our request. The surrounding neighborhood does have small eateries and a supermarket; however, none of them accept credit cards. As the hotel does not provide currency exchange services, guests should be prepared with local currency. In our case, this meant returning to the airport for dinner. The hotel itself appears to be relatively new. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a particularly well-designed bathroom. Basic amenities were provided, which suited our short stay well.Breakfast was enjoyable, offering a good selection of dishes. While we only stayed for one night and cannot comment on day-to-day variety, the options available were more than satisfactory. In summary, this hotel offers a clean, modern, and comfortable stay in close proximity to Beijing Daxing Airport. It is highly practical for transit travelers, though guests should prepare for limited payment options in the...
