Qianmen Courtyard Hotel — Hotel in Beijing

Very quaint hotel right in the middle of the historic hutong area in the Qianmen district. Do have realistic expectations of the room and facilities when considering that this is a budget hotel in a historic area, and you won't be disappointed. Rooms are traditional Chinese style - compact, but nice and clean, with A/C. There was free WiFi in the room - average connection speed, though. The hotel staff were very nice and friendly, and they spoke good English.||||On the negative side, there were some small bugs crawling around on the bathroom floor, close to the shower. Regardless of the hotel being situated in a historical building in an old district, they should perform some preventative measures to take care of bugs. Also, it takes a while before hot water starts to flow in the shower - the first time it actually took up to a minute or two.||||Hotel location is excellent! It is situated in a quiet alley close to all main attractions in the Qianmen district. Dashilan Street, Qianmen Street, Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City are all within walking distance. Qianmen subway station (line 2) is also just a 10 minute walk away. There are plenty of grocery stores and restaurants in the area.||||The hotel can be a bit hard to find, but I suggest you find your way to Qianmen Street and walk south until you can see an H&M store on your left. Take a right and continue into the alley for approx. 50 meters. The hotel is located on the left side. I had to ask a lot of people before I finally found it.||||Note! Be aware that you have to pay a deposit of RMB 100 during your check-in. This is apparently common practice in China - at least in the budget hotels and hostels I stayed at when I travelled around there in June. We had a night to stay in Beijing and we decided to book a traditional chinese hotel. Qianmen Courtyard was one of the hotels located near to the Beijing South Railway Station and hence we selected it. The taxi driver had to take some pain to find the hotel as he entered from the wrong street. Check in was smooth and hotel room was just ok. It is an old hotel with a typical chinese touch including a courtyard in the middle and room doors have a thick curtain outside to prevent from cold. Beijing was too cold in November and we could hardly go out so we stayed in the hotel itself on first day after visiting the temple of heaven which is nearby the hotel. All in all it is a good hotel for a short stay but not for a long stay. NO breakfast is provided and you can get a taxi from outside after a short walk. The tour operators know the place well and they will pick you up from the hotel in time. NO hot water in the room in such cold weather. The staff says the water has to come from a long distance after heating and you need to wait for hot water to come. We waited and waited and waited till we left the hotel but hot water never came in the taps. Just normal cool water was coming out from the taps.... Would sure never come...

Este hotel es una estafa cuando pagas con tarjeta de crédito. Te dicen que pagas en moneda local y es mentira, pagas en tu moneda extranjera, en mi caso euros. Tengo el ticket del pago y aparece una marca en euros. Ellos te dicen que no le haga caso a eso y que he pagado en yuanes. Ahora estoy en Shanghai y ningún problema con el pago. He usado la tarjeta bnext y revolut, las cuales evitan comisiones, pero este hotel te cobra en euros porque ellos quieren, un 13% más caro, en mi caso pagué 38 euros más, 300 cny. Encima el responsable me dice que no es su problema, que ellos hacen el cobro bien. Si os interesa este hotel pagarlo en metálico. Valoro negativamente este hotel por ese motivo, el pago real era 292 euros y pagué 330 euros. La comisión no fue del banco, sino de ellos, beneficiándose mucho más. Por algun motivo les interesa que el cliente pague sólo en metálico y cuando quieres pagar con tarjeta te estafan. No recomiendo este hotel por este motivo, ya que encima me trataban de mentiroso.
