AIRPORT TRANSFER - Booking No. * (Airport pick-up - Beijing Qianmen Courtyard Manxinfu Hotel). The driver literally dropped us off at the busy main street on the other side of the hotel and have us walk with three bags to our hotel. Saw some police who gave us direction, see picture. We missed the turning to the hotel and end up at Meishi Street. I asked for direction from a kind gentlemen, who used his phone and found our hotel and also helped us carry one of our bags. This was unacceptable or poor compare the the top-notched service we got in HongKong.2. SERVICE - 2 persons: I would like to acknowledge and thanks for their effort - the guy (I do not have his name) at the front desk who ordered our dinner on the first night as it was closed to 9:00 pm and we were tired. He helped order rice and chicken drumsticks using his app, brought it to our room but I did not have exact change. I gave him 100RMB(smallest change we have) and he sayed he will leave a message at the front desk to give me back the change in the morning. In the morning, on our way out - we were stopped and given our change. Second person - I had her send me a text of her name but my cell phone no longer shows the message. She had a cold and wearing a mask the day before we left. I told her she should go home to rest, and she mentioned she will be finishing her shift soon. On the 3rd days in Beijing, we walked to the Forbidden Place from our hotel. After visiting the Forbidden Place, we decided to call a cab from the street, showing the driver the address of the hotel. Because of traffic jam, he dropped us ~6 blocks away!! Saw police, called the hotel and had the police talk to her. The police pointed us the direction. Upon arriving at the hotel, she signed us up with an app so that we can communicate with the hotel in English. And she was always willing to help. Please inform the hotel manager, she did an exemptional job, sorry I lost her name.HOTEL: There were 3 rooms. 2 rooms entrance light were not working and ours was one of them. Had inform the staff but they don't think it's important to have a well-lighted area in the night, with the steps and uneven ground. The hotel was not busy mid-week, most evening it was dark. My husband was not impressed!! Recommend "Lithonia Lighting HGT LED, it has a motion sensor & Accent Light", you can find it from Amazon. I learned to set up the TV as the internet has to be reset every evening. Would be nice to have tea-bags or coffee, room to put clothing, settings in English(thermostate). We had to sleep with two comforters as it was cool in the evening. OVERALL: China infrastructure is amazing and has come a long way. This is my second time to China. During this trip I wanted to travel without a tour but the challenger is the soft skills - language communication, it takes us 2-3 days to figure out Alipay as the esim I bought from Trip.com was not working well. I had to use my husband's Telus plan(from Canada) and his cell phone while in Beijing. I joined the Summer Place and Great of China English Tour - 8 people. It was a great group of people, tour guide was good, but our driver was coughing. I had to ask the tour guide if he could have the driver wear the mask in the van as we are seniors. Food at the restaurant after the Great Wall of China was good and I am glad food was included. The door-to-door picking up in small group setting is perfect. You need to tell people to dress warm during the tour. I was wearing my winter jacket from Canada but some people were in thin jacket suited for spring because they came from...
