Good service in China is rare. Fortunately, the service at Sheraton Dongcheng is world-class. The staff do care and try their best to help.
The staff and service at the Sheraton lounge were fantastic. Helping me with everything from visas to getting special requests for breakfast.
Concierge was ok, but it would be good to have some arrangements with local taxi companies. During chinese new year there were NO car options (even overpriced options from the hotel cars). The hotel should have a fleet of cars that cost 3-4x more than taxis but no more and are available 24/7.
The Italian restaurant has delicious food at a reasonable cost. The 99 RMB lunch deal at 4 hotel restaurants is good. The restaurant "fresh" needs some work. Breakfast opens at 6am but when I go there at 6.20 some food items are still not available. Often when I order eggs the chef does not send the eggs to the table with the waiter. I have to either wait, return to the counter or ask the waiter to fetch the eggs. The fruit quality and variety is excellent. The other items are average quality and need improvement. Lunch at fresh is similarly ok, however for the price you expect higher quality. For example, the Fajitas I ordered were nothing like Fajitas. They were nice wraps but not Fajitas. The price should be less or the quality should be improved. The lunch buffet is unappealing. I have toured it several times and been unsatisfied with the items.
The gym is modern and nice, however there is some issues. The group fitness room is too hot and the cooling does not work. This is also true for the room. It is almost impossible to cool any room in the hotel to less than 20 degrees Celsius. This is important in the gym because you get hot yourself. Also, the gym has no Les Mills Body Attack or Les Mills Body Jam classes. I joined Nirvana Fitness and Spa as a substitute. The hotel should have a special relationship with this gym because it is so close.
I had a poor experience with the pool. The manager insisted not only that I wear a swimming cap but also that I had to go shopping to buy one before swimming in the hotel pool. Maybe this is some ridiculous requirement in China, but this is a western hotel. I have stayed at many hotels and I have never had to wear a swimming cap, ever. After 20 minutes of argument the manager arranged a cap I could borrow. This makes no sense because I'm sure there are children urinating in the pool and the chemicals in the pool are strong enough to render that harmless. Does it mean I have to argue with the swimming pool manager every time I go swimming? This needs to change and was very disappointing.
The room is modern and with great views. The quality of the fittings and fixtures is high. The comfort of the bed is good. The tea is not good and the creamer is not good. There should be black tea - earl grey and english breakfast and there should be fresh milk available in the fridge. The bath and shower are...
Read moreI just came back from a business trip in Beijing. I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. I strongly recommend this hotel to all especially for business travelers. Staff at the concierge are excellent. They are extremely helpful, and always run the extra mile. They provide accurate direction to all our business meeting places, and accurate estimate on the travel time including traffic, have cab reserved and ready for us every morning, allowing us to better plan out our day. They even suggested other option to get business cards done through the hotel more quickly when we were anxiously waiting for our business cards to be couriered over by another printing company. The concierge also provided good suggestions on shopping and tourist places, etc.
I lost my voice during the latter part of my trip due to the many presentations that I delivered, and they quickly got me my specified medication and have them delivered and ready in my room when I got off from my business meetings. The list of positive experience is just endless and I'm very pleased with their excellent personalized customer service.
This hotel also serves a nice breakfast buffet. Of special mention are two of the chefs at the omelet and soup station who always run the extra mile. When I totally lost my voice, they don't even need me to place order. They remember what I like and will bring them to my table with a warm and courteous smile.
The room is great, very spacious, clean and comfortable. The only area for improvement is its wi-fi internet which seems to drop connection quite a bit. However, due to their responsive guest services, issues got resolved fairly quickly.
Overall, I would say this property offers excellent customer service and great amenities.
It's also quite close to the metro station, so it's very convenient to go to different tourist attraction areas.
Thanks once again to all the staff there as it makes me feel at home and appreciate the spirit of Beijing! Keep up...
Read moreWe stayed four incredible nights and did not want to leave. The Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel is a first/world class hotel. The hotel is conveniently located just a 10 minutes leisurely walk from Beijing's Subway. From the moment the Bell Desk/Door man welcomes you until you check out by the attentive front desk, you realize that the hotel is flawless. The facilities are clean and modern, the room amenities are plenty and world class. But nothing pales in comparison with the hotel's excellent Club Lounge and the incredible Lounge Agents. Having traveled and stayed in many world class hotels, We can attest that the Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel Club Lounge is the best that we have ever experienced. Club Lounge Manager Stephanie and Lounge Agent Max were out of this world along with Jason and Cara. Hotel Concierge James complimented and worked in concert with the Club Lounge agents to meet our travel requests. The Club Lounge Staff provided the pinnacle of service with professionalism and class. There were no questions or requests that went answered. Their suggestions and recommendations from sightseeing to restaurants were spot on. The food and beverages in the lounge were also excellent and we looked forward breakfast and evening happy hours each day. Kudos also to Kat the Food and Beverage Manager (we met during our dinner at the hotel's fantastic Italian Restaurant) and Rose the Night Front Desk Manager, you both brought smiles to our stay. Kudos to the General Manager - you should be extremely proud of your competent and professional Management Team and hotel staff. Lastly please accept our nominations of selecting Max (Club Lounge Agent) for employee of the Month/Quarter/Year). MAX is the Brightest and Stellar shinning STAR amongst the many Stars at the Sheraton Beijing Dongcheng Hotel. Thank you all for welcoming us and making us feel comfortable during our incredible...
