Dreams is a very busy place with people checking in and out all the time. The desk staff seamed a little overwhelmed. Except for one young man at the desk most seamed disinterested except to conduct business which was efficiently done. I asked for directions several times. The afore mentioned young man was helpful. Another staff member sent me on a wild goose chase and was indifferent about it after I spent an afternoon going no place. Language was not the problem just knowledge of major Chengdu attractions. The room I had was large and clean, Wi-Fi worked. The dining area is a series of wooden benches and around a table and wooden booths. The breakfast offering was good when they had everything. They don't open early so when I had an early departure they sent me next door to Hollys Hostel for breakfast. The bar area was nice, comfortable and open late. Dreams website is terrible and emailing them is worse. I tried multiple times to arrange for an airport pick up. I got no response. Only when I tried through Booking .com did I get a response and that was only after I had arrived. Dreams is in a great location depending on your interests. It is across the street from the Wuhou Temple, Jinli Street and next to the Tibetan district. There are banks, restaurants , and shops all around. Dreams has travel information posted for the Scenic Shuttle Bus company located across the street by the entrance to the Wuhou. The Scenic Shuttle Bus company also has a desk at the domestic terminal at the airport. 15Y to or from the airport. Dreams is on several major bus lines that can take you to most tourist sites easily. Dreams was safe and clean, a place to put your head down. My best advise if you don't speak much Chinese and to make your stay at Dreams practical is have a good map in both Chinese and your language of choice with bus...
Read moreInexpensive dorm bed. Inexpensive breakfast. I liked the Chinese pancake a lot. Perfect location to cover as many tourist sites as you possibly can. With the services of the Scenic Tour Bus, it is inexpensive to get to a lot of places.||||The Scenic Tour Bus leaves Chengdu from its parking bay just across the road from this hostel. The trips and the tickets are good. The 2D/1N trip I took to Mount Emei costs only RMB210 which include a one-night stay in a 3-star hotel (with a room that is as comfortable as a 4-star hotel). The trip also covered LeShan Big Buddha. Trip to airport only cost RMB10.||||This hostel location is perfect to get around. Walk about 500m and you can get on the metro. Walk across the street and there are plenty of buses to take. Even visiting Wuhouci museum is to walk across the street. From there, you can also take a shuttle from the Scenic Tour Bus to DuFu Thatched Cottage for RMB3 one-way. All facilities within walking distance.||||The bed, even though I was given the upper bunk, was surprisingly comfortable. I slept very well for the four nights I was there. The shared bathroom shower has good hot water and the toilets are clean. I did not use the locker. It was safe for me to leave my backpack in the 10-man dorm.||||What I didn't like about the stay, that is why I have given it only 4 stars, was people smoking in the room and in the living/dining hall. Cigarette smoke is constantly everywhere. I think I got second-hand cigarette smoke from this hostel more than anywhere I have been.||||Strictly, it would be good to enforce no-smoking policy in the place as it is air-conditioned. More so, China is emphasizing on 'Cultured' touring. A more civilized mentality when traveling and using...
Read moreI love Dreams Travel Hostel and have stayed here a number of times specifically because on travel trips I have made into or out of Chengdu I usually find myself exhausted from talking. Dreams Travel is located in a lovely area close to the Tibetan quarter of Chengdu but is most popular among Chinese cyclists and backpackers. For this reason, I find it a good place to stay a quiet night without having to do too much talking. If you are feeling friendly, chat away! But if you want to hide, this is my top choice for sort of disappearing into the corner with a book!||||There is air conditioning so the rooms stay cool in hot weather, the staff are friendly, and the food is pretty good for the price. The dorms are a little expensive, but the showers are great and doubles are nice too! A nice little Chengdu hideaway when all your friendship and merry-making...
