See my photos of Hot Deal room booked through Agoda in Nov 2018. I asked for a quiet room and got room 503 which is at the end of the corridor right opposite the fire door to the staircase, away from the lift. ||||The room is very spacious. Dated but considered quite clean. The bathroom is big but this could be due to the location of the room being the last room along the corridor. ||||The bathroom tiles looked not very clean, more of some permanent stains rather than removable ones. Some tiles are broken. Water pressure was good. Hot water was good. Toilet bowl siphonic flushing pressure was adequate. Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shower cap, shower gel, shampoo, hand wash, toilet paper, bath towel, hand towel, floor mat, shower mat were all provided & replenished daily if depleted or used.||||Hot deal room from Agoda was the cheapest type and does not guarantee a non-smoking room. Mine has smoke stench and made my throat dry during the night. The stench may not be too noticeable when I walked into the room and even during the waking hours but as I stay longer in the room, I started to smell and feel it. Suggest to book non-smoking room. However, do note that even non-smoking rooms may have smoke residues in it as many guests do not respect the non-smoking policy in Guangzhou as we noticed in many restaurants and hotels there. I also noticed some guests smoking in the corridor & the staircase area and the smoke do get into our room.||||The wardrobe door in room 503 does not close. The mini fridge is not very cold. My yogurt was only slightly cool to the touch after 24 hours in the fridge. The bed was the hard type. Take a look inside the drawer of the dressing table, it has some magazines and books. There was a Guangzhou Impression book with loads of nice pictures of Guangzhou attractions. Gives you more ideas of places to visit during your stay.||||Slippers, tissue box, 2 bottles of purified water given daily. Daily housekeeping seemed good. Bed was made daily & everything used replenished.||||Overall impression..given the hotel rate of rmb 250 for this Hot Deal room via Agoda, I would say it is good value for money. If not for the smoke stench which made my throat so dry at night, I would...
Read moreLocated across the street from B exit of Ximenkou Metro, this is nestled in the old district with traditional Guangzhou shops and as local as it gets. It is brisk, unassuming and pragmatic. I booked and prepaid a "non-smoking double room" which on the app shows a deluxe room but in reality , Agoda the skinflint, made a reservation for a smoking superior room. I speak Chinese so with a few clicks and a lot of waiting for images to download, the matter was resolved and I got the non smoking deluxe room.||As mentioned in other reviews , the bed IS hard but the room and linens were clean. I stepped out for morning dim sum at the local restaurant and in an hour's time, my room was cleaned and the room spritzed with air freshener. I used the amenities before I stepped out again and returned to a cleaned room again with repleshed water in the evening. Very hard working staff! ||As a solo leisure female traveller, I have no qualms about safety in this neighbourhood. I stayed on the 13th floor on for 3d2n near the lifts and it's sufficiently quiet and well removed from traffic and restaurant noises. The air conditioning in November worked fine. ||The draw of this hotel is its convenience in location, efficient staff and a very local neighbourhood. All this for a fair...
Read moreI only picked this hotel because of it's hilarious name. This hotel was ok. It's located very close to Ximenkou station, which itself houses a McDonald's, KFC, and pizza hut, and there is also a 7-11 nearby. I had a single room with a king sized bed. The bed was quite firm but comfortable. Amenities included a TV, 2 chairs, bottled water, and a kettle to boil water. Bathroom amenities included standard items like shampoo, soap, and a toothbrush. For $35 a night it was a bargain, though it could have been improved.
The bathroom was in ok shape. Shower pressure was a little poor and there was some obvious wear in the corners.
Things I didn't like about this hotel include: There was no way to heat the room and it was a little on the chilly side. My room faced a schoolyard, and every morning at 8 am the kids started playing trumpets and drums. At 10 am they get recess which was either a sport like soccer or a dance party to "That's Not My Name" They were doing construction on some floors. They wouldn't start until at least 9 am but the noise was loud and constant. Guests were strictly not allowed. A friend wanted to crash for the night with me but the front desk called my room and said he needed to check-in if he wanted to stay the night. A...
