Stayed at this hotel last month, it's in a rather strange location, Old Town Guangzhou. I thought it would be a little seedy, because it was dark and a little dirty in the neighborhood, but it is simply an older industrial part of town and the people and area is fine. I do have to say that in a place like China, it is really never dangerous for foreigners unlike many other countries in Asia.||||Then hotel is very Chinese and is part of a large hotel chain. Lobby is always over done and this hotel services the many visitors here for the several Wholesale Optical Markets, including the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor of this hotel. I was here for the large Jewelry market cornered by Liwan Plaza, only a 10 rmb ride from the hotel.||||The rooms are spacious and recently renovated. It also falls within my 300 rmb nightly hotel limit when traveling on business and by myself. Furniture is nice and quirky and the bed was large and very comfortable by China standards. NO HARD BEDS.||||There is a complimentary breakfast, not to be desired, and a very popular local restaurant on the same floor. Very crowded day and night! The only a short ride to Shangxiajiu Commercial Pedestrian Street (I like to use the small three wheeled motorcycles run by handicapped owners) and for 10 rmb it's better than a ride at Six Flags! There is plenty to eat and do and from there you can enter the incredible Guangzhou Metro at Sanyuanli station and the whole city is opened up to you.||||I try to avoid Guangzhou during the Canton Fair like the plague, so I will not be helpful for those planning to stay during this crazy time of the year, but if you are looking for a great clean and spacious room in a great location (especially if you're in the optical business) then this is your hotel.||||English can be a problem, but hey, your in China. Any hotel other than an international 5 star will have the same problem. For $50 US, just relax and enjoy it. I had a foot massage every night in the hotels spa (no hanky-pankym thank you) and would gladly stay at this hotel again.||||If you need a diet Coke or bag of chips there is a nice store on the left hand side of the building, Mac Do just down the street and access to a lot more. ||||Enjoy the Vienna...
Read moreWe stayed at Vienna on a group tour of Guangzhou. Though it's on the main road, our taxi from the airport drove around for over an hour trying to find it! Seems there are many Vienna hotels in the city...||Check in took a while as the receptionists didn't understand a word of English! ||Note there are no bathrooms on the reception floor and we had to wait till we were checked in to go to the washrooms! Not a very good start after a long haul flight!||Rooms are ok, but I had to change rooms as original assigned was on the main road side and the traffic was noisy all night. So ask for a room away from the road..the ones along the road are bigger though! |For some of the rooms, the phone had a multi usb port which came in handy for charging the phones...that was a thoughtful addition!|English breakfast is non existent, could only eat bread, boiled corn on the cob and fried egg as everything else was unrecognizable to me! ||The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the sanyuanli metro stop exit C2, so that was convenient.||It's ok for those looking for a no frills business trip, staff not friendly, beds are comfortable, showers nice and hot, and price was reasonable, cleanliness was a hit and miss, some days the rooms were sparkling and on some days a few things were not done....the bathroom essentials were provided plus toothbrush and...
Read moreI stayed at the Vienna Hotel (2015) while on route to Beihai, the room was provided by China Southern Airlines because of a long layover before the flight to Beihai from Guangzhou, I found the hotel to be clean and comfortable and the staff were courteous and helpful, at the time of my visit there was no one there that spoke english but it did not hinder my time there, my bill was covered by China Southern airlines so I have no idea on the price but I would say that I would be happy to stay here again even if I was footing the bill, the room was clean and tidy with a tv and a kettle and with a separate private shower room, the bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable, I did not sample the food because I was so tired all I wanted to do was sleep after a long flight from the UK.
I was happy to stay here and I am happy to...
