New West Street International Hotel — Hotel in Guilin

The room we were allocated on the top floor was very attractive but had large areas of mould on the wall between the bathroom and bedroom. When we complained, after a bit of a fuss we were given another room on the same floor, which was fine, with attractive furnishings. Outside, in the corridor, were eight huge noisy dehumidifiers - apparently there had been either a flood or a leak. My husband unplugged them at night - it would have been impossible to sleep otherwise. The climate here is very hot and humid and looking out of our window at the adjacent building, also part of the hotel, there were plants growing along the top of the windows and along the eaves. If you have the chance it is best ot avoid this hotel. I was with a group tour and had no choice to stay here for 2 night only. The room is clean and unusual in having a clear glass partition between the bathroom and bedroom. There was also a supply of condoms at the bedside?!? The breakfast was not suitable for European tastes. Even our Malaysian Tour Guide was disappointed with the standard of food on offer. All the hot food in the servery was cold too. Dirty tables, dirty cutlery and dirty floors made me eat little in this place. No fresh fruit either, all canned fruit. So, in summary, a good place to lay your head down for the night but best...

Absolutely 5 star hotel. Our small tour group stayed here for two nights. The manager and some staff met us at the door and they were extremely welcoming and friendly. You enter the hotel into a massive, beautiful lobby. The rooms are modern and spacious. The view out the back deck is spectacular. The breakfast buffet was great.
