My wife and I were booked by our tour company into a standard room in this ‘superior’ hotel.||The room was tidy and clean, but old and lacked the facilities one would expect as a traveller to China. The air-conditioning was controlled at one setting centrally in the hotel for all rooms, which meant for us the room was too warm. A portable dehumidifier was provided which ceased to function after one night. There were few power sockets in the room (none next to the bed), and one socket was not fixed to the wall. Internet was intermittently available and there was a limit to the number of devices that could be used (3). The bathroom had soap and shampoo, but then also a basket with other items for which a charge applied. The towels were clean but well worn.||Only one member of the front desk staff spoke any English and their shift pattern meant they weren’t always available.||Breakfast was fine if you had an Asian appetite, but it was difficult to get a cup of (black) tea and there was a limited selection of what one might consider ‘western breakfast foods’.||The location could have been better. It does not even help if the staff gives its best, if they only do...
Read moreWe booked the hotel for a family away weekend during the tomb sweeping festival. The best feature of the hotel is it's location in Hangzhou, which is on qingchun street, and close ish to the west lake tourist attraction. The hotel was also pram and wheelchair accessible. Parking is a nightmare with limited spaces above ground, and a hidden enterance to the hotel, that can entail a lengthy trip around the block if you miss it. Rooms are ok, but certainly not to a four star standard. Prices in the coffee shop are at six star boutique levels, much easier to...
