Han Yue Lou Hotel Nanjing, a Solís Managed Hotel — Hotel in Nanjing City

I’ll get the positives out of the way first: the rooms are decent with comfortable beds, and the breakfast buffet is quite good. Now the negatives... customer service is appalling here. It’s supposed to be a freaking five star hotel so make sure there is always at least one person on duty who speaks English. The amount of times we were met with bafflement at simple requests over the course of twelve days was ridiculous. Some of the staff are just plain rude, and for this I reserve a special mention for the pair of buffoons on duty at the Rye bar on the fifth floor. This is meant to provide a place to chill and socialise with friends and colleagues and it’s hours of closing are billed as midnight. Well, that depends on whether Dumb or Dumber feels like knocking off early. Once we were told he wouldn’t serve us a last drink at 11.30 and another time he said the place was shut at 10.30. And another time we observed him casually pour a half shot instead of a full shot. For this disgrace they add 15% service charge. Pull the other one lads! Then there’s the sauna/fitness centre. I’ve never encountered a hotel of this supposed class where staff don’t at least smile or say hello when you enter. Instead there’s a totally disinterested staff member playing games on her phone. Talking of fitness centre: no towels provided and the water fountain doesn’t work. I could go on with some more anecdotes but you get the idea: this hotel suffers from poor management and shoddy staff. Basically it’s a turd that’s been polished and I would not recommend it for a longer stay unless you want to feel utterly depressed and confine yourself...

We arrived late in night and or Early Morning after traveling for close to twenty hours from the USA. The staff spoke great English were friendly and were quick to get us into our rooms. They made sure each of us, 21 of us had staff help take our baggage to our rooms. Mine was AMAZING King sized room that was not a suit, but by USA standards it surpass many suits that Ihave stayed in the past several decades from around the World. The bedroom was separate from the bathroom that was bigger than some hotel rooms with a separate shower and bath, sitting area inside of the wardrobe closet that was the size of most bathrooms in a 4 star hotel with room to spare for all my luggage and clothing. There was a desk and and sitting area for guest which I had used often for meeting with three to six people. The internet was amazing but not to standards of USA internet due to not being able to get to several sites that are not blocked here. VPN . The maid service was great and I had to tell them to not bother with bed turn down and mint at 7pm every night due to the fact I was not ready for bed until about 11pm 12am. I could go on and on....If you go to Nanjing, stay at here you will...
