I want to first thank the excellent team at Fairmont Sanya for taking such good care of my family and I during our stay. From the very first greeting upon arrival through to the kind service during check-in and throughout our stay I can safely say this is a top notch experience overall. Especially grateful to Vedat Yildirim and the team that took care of us when we were met with the unfortunate experience of having to leave this great hotel and go to a quarantine! (we had a close contact case with someone on the airplane on the way to Sanya).Generally speaking we over index on 'facilities' and 'hardware' and under-index when it comes to 'service'. The smile you receive from staff, the helpful hand to carry things or point out others. It just makes a world of difference. And also it is the HARDEST thing to improve. It takes a lot of effort to train staff, to build a culture of courtesy and really deliver something that feels 5-star. For comparison, I have been to just about every single major hotel in Sanya (Rosewood, JW, Edition, Park Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, ... ) and I think only the Ritz Carlton can compare when I'm talking about the software/service of an experience. Something that makes you feel you are being taken care of. Yes, Edition is 'trendier', yes Park Hyatt has a nicer beach... but honestly - I'm kinda tired of overhyped hotels full of fake-KOLs taking selfies (I'm looking at you Rosewood. Stay at Rosewood and see if A) the bar is open or B) even if all their restaurants open - they don't have enough competent or trained staff. It's just the reality.) So I'll definitely be considering other Fairmont hotels in the future for business travel and return...
Read moreThe initial allure of the Fairmont, glowing elegantly at night upon our arrival, quickly faded into disappointment. Language barriers were immediate and glaring: virtually no staff spoke English, leaving us stranded in communication limbo. After settling into our suite, hunger struck—only to discover all on-site restaurants shutter at 9 PM. For a so-called luxury resort, this is absurdly inconvenient.|A commendable nod goes to the chef who personally delivered the room service menu after multiple frustrating calls where staff, unable to understand English, simply hung up. The food, thankfully, was a highlight, offering a fleeting moment of satisfaction.||However, the state of our room was a stark betrayal of the Fairmont name. The “view” showcased an abandoned building, while the room itself felt neglected—peeling balcony railings and a shower ceiling on the verge of collapse. Housekeeping’s efforts were equally half-hearted: cleaning products were left on the toilet, as if inviting us to finish the job |ourselves. |Yet, the staff remained polite, almost as if their courtesy could mask the chaos and the were so great full even with the language barrier.||For Accor ALL members, brace yourself: even Gold or Platinum status means little here. Perks labeled as exclusive to members were inexplicably off-limits, adding insult to injury.|In short, don’t waste your money on this five-star facade. It offers fewer amenities than a Grand Mercure and pales in comparison to Hilton’s polished offerings in Hainan. Save yourself the frustration and choose a resort that delivers on...
Read moreLocation: Excellent location, easy to go everywhere. It usually takes between ten minutes and half an hour drive to go to many scenic spots and food stalls.||||Facilities: All facilities are available. The dome design in the lobby is absolutely stunning. The swimming pool is huge, and there are children's pool activities such as bubble parties and surfing lessons every afternoon. The hotel's canal is an internet celebrity highlight. It is recommended to ride after dark, which will be more interesting. The breakfast buffet is huge with a wide selection of food.||||Services: The staff are friendly and attentive. Will take the initiative to say hello to every guest I meet. Basically fulfilled all requests. Especially thoughtful for toddlers and children, there is a dedicated children's playroom, and there are various activities for children and adults every day. Children will never get bored. In addition, the hotel also has its own helicopter, and guests can pay for different levels of air tours.||||Value: The price/performance ratio is probably the best among luxury hotels in Haitang Bay!||||Drawbacks: This hotel is among the first batch of hotels in Haitang Bay. It has a history of nearly ten years. The traces of tears and wares on the outer walls and in the rooms can be easily spotted. Compared with the FISHMONGER of ROSEWOOD next door, the Chinese restaurant is an even obvious lacklustre. Improvement is strongly expected. ||||Summary: The whole family, including children and adults, are very satisfied. Absolutely worthy of the prestigious brand...
