With so much hype and anticipation , this rosewood property just simply failed to deliver. ||Check-in:||During the check-in, a lady, who looked like a seasoned professional, was supposed to put a pre-authorized charge (close to $3000) on my credit card (for security deposit ). Instead, she charged my credit card right away. Though I gave her credit for refunding me immediately after she realized the mistake, the oversight, which could have and should haven avoided, is still shocking given the caliber of the hotel. ||||In-room amenities:||The fridge is broken. I called operator, telling her something wrong with the fridge.- all the drinks in it were at room temperature. Initially I was told it was supposed to be like that. But I asked her again if this is really the case for their fridges, she told me she would send an engineer to check. After some “investigation” , the engineer concluded that the fridge was broken – some kind of heat ventilation problem, he brought in another fridge to replace the broken one. And later on, it turned out that one wasn’t working either. ||||Service:||The room I booked was a room with a pool. But given the weather, it’s pretty much useless. (As a matter of fact, I had been assured that by the hotel ( I called ahead of my arrival to check whether the pool temperature is suitable for swimming) I would be able to take advantage of the pool of the room. But who are you kidding?! ||With that, I decided to move to a non-pool room, which, I thought, might have a working fridge. No, it turned the fridge was (and it seems fridges in all the rooms) the still the same – room temperature - why bother with a fridge in the room ?? ||To add insult to the injury, the room rate initially charged was the “front desk” rate. Only after being presented with their own online room rate, the duty manager adjusted the rate – not before giving me some lame excuses. |||| Meal: ||Terrible! Dishes my partner and I ordered at their EAST kitchen were so salty that we just threw our hands up ||||The final nail in the coffin : Cockroach! || On the morning of checking out, I found a cockroach on the bed. Speechless!!!||||||This whole experience is such a letdown! I know we should never say never. But for this property, NEVER! ||||Just a suggestion for those who still want to book this property for their vacation, don’t bother with panoramic ocean view pool room. the view is really underwhelming – much less impressive than what’s presented on...
Read moreThe inhouse internet allows access to Facebook, Gmail, Twitter and Google. For this reason alone, I will stay in this hotel in the future. Other hotels requires the use of a VPN and using VPN by an individual to bypass censorship may be technically illegal in China.
Hotel feels new, is new and have an airy sophisticated feel. The infinity pool at the top of the hotel is perfect for picture taking so is the ground floor pool surrounded by a well manicure garden.
The Sense spa has a calming ambience. Would recommend you try the massage options incorporating local traditions. I had the best spa in this hotel over others establishment.
Booked an entry level pool suite and an entry level room for the family. Both are very nice and met my expectation. A spot for improvement is Rosewood use old school power sockets which does not accept all power points across the world. This can be a minor inconvenience for overseas travellers as you may need a power adaptor.
I was the only guest at the flagship Fish restaurant for lunch and the only table at East Restaurant serving South East Asia cuisine for dinner. Food was good, not fabulous and expensive. For similar food at half the price, there is a massive food mall consisting of many restaurants about 1km metres from the hotel and they offer free pickup.
I may be wrong but I don't think there is a play area for kids in the hotel like many hotels in Sanya other than the beach area.
All in all, a solid new hotel for all, a must stay hotel for couple who love selfies and travellers who need access to Western social media and...
