I usually don't write reviews, but I'd like to write because this is the most unsatisfactory Accor hotel experience I've ever had. I used two accommodation tickets that I received by joining the China Accor Gold Card for this stay. (Booked for a total of two consecutive days for one night each.) Other Korean customers have seen several reviews that even though they booked a basic room during the peak winter season with the Accor Platinum benefit, it has been upgraded to a suite. I also booked a basic room. However, I didn't even receive a first-stage room upgrade, let alone a suite, at the time of check-in. Of course, I know that the right to upgrade rooms is the domain of discretion to judge based on the status of guests in the hotel. I even tried to use the room upgrade coupon for the China Accor gold card, but the answer that came back was that all rooms were fully booked. Even the staff who told me that the room was fully booked said that it had not been upgraded but was assigned to the highest floor. However, the sixth floor in Pearl Tower is just one floor above the fifth floor, which is the lowest by room standards. It was something her should not have said. Return to original story, EVEN I will understand that. It could actually be fully booked. However, the various experiences I had at the time of check-in made me doubt the real intention of the person in charge who told me that it was fully booked. First of all, in the e-mail that was sent to me the day before my stay, I was aware that the hotel was staying for two nights, but there was a rather embarrassing moment when the staff asked me if I was staying for one night at the check-in site. It wasn't until I mentioned that I had booked for two nights that I was able to proceed with the check-in, and there was such a lack of explanation about the benefits of this hotel in platinum. The next morning, I presented my room card at the counter at the restaurant to eat at cuisine, and the staff informed me that I could go in. However, five minutes later, another staff member came to me and told me that your reservation didn't include the meal. It just so happened that I was about to take a seat with the food. Am I stealing the meal? Am I right that the breakfast workers at the restaurant don't know what the benefits of platinum would be? This happened even though I explained to them that I could eat at cuisine at the time of check-in. (Someone should have corrected it if I was wrong to understand that breakfast was only available at the lounge, but it wasn't.) Another male staff member came and took a picture of my platinum mobile card on my phone before I informed me that I could eat. I felt so bad to be so-called humiliated when everyone else was watching. I went to pick up more food without finishing my meal, and I had a ridiculous experience (with my earphone case positioned so I could see the word table occupied) that the staff removed my seat and left my earphone case at the breakfast counter. Due to this experience, I have no intention of repurchasing or renewing Chinese Accor Gold cards in the future. I hope there will be improvements...

Sanya is an undiscovered gem for the western market, but go in low season (Apr-Oct) and you won't be disappointed.
Firstly, this property is HUGE! Don't let that put you off. It just means you can find a corner of it to suit you.
Taxi to/from Sanya Airport is about 140-150 CNY and 45 minutes. Atlantis Water Park is well worth a visit and ten minutes taxi from the Sofitel.
Rooms here are beautiful! So well-appointed and maintained. Beautiful views from my room, huge bath and that amazing Sofitel bed.
4 swimming pools to choose from and the main pool features a swim-up bar.
Lots of facilities for families and couples alike, and the place is large enough that you won't be annoyed by a different demographic to you.
Food and Beverage is excellent for both Asian and western cuisine. Breakfast is a massive offering with something for everyone. Amazing fresh-baked bread every morning is sensational.
The Club Lounge is an oasis of calm and a lovely place to enjoy breakfast or evening cocktails and canapes if you are able to gain entry due to Accor status or room type.
The staff are great here and well trained. The service staff have enough English to cover their roles and they are so sincere with their efforts to please you. I have to say Carrie, Lisa and Amy in the bar were excellent and very obliging.
Also, Alice Chen as Manager of The Club was exceptional at her job. She is charming, caring and has her guests' comfort and experience as a priority all the time. Nothing is too much trouble for her. She is a super star.
Finally, F&B Manager, Adam, is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. He stopped by every day to chat, get feedback and offer suggestions. He's a huge asset to the team here and is brilliant at his job.
As a Platinum Accor Plus member, I stay over 70 nights per year in Accor Hotels worldwide. I would put this property in my "Top 3" without any hesitation. It is all about good facilities, good food and beverage and the guest experience. This hotel excels in all three. You can tell its an exceptionally well-run property where staff go "above and beyond" to make sure guests have a wonderful stay.
I was very sad to leave and will definitely come back. It's truly...
Read moreAfter recently staying at Sofitel Guangzhou Sunrich, where the Club Millesime service was exceptional, my experience at Sofitel Leeman Sanya was disappointing. Despite booking the same category with Club Millesime access, the difference in quality was unacceptable. ||The Club Millesime lounge in Sanya was subpar in service, food quality and atmosphere. There was no sense of exclusivity, with constant noise and no tranquility for executive guests. Compared to Guangzhou, where everything was refined, Sanya's offering felt disorganized and cheap. ||Noise was a constant problem - from lawnmowers and gardening equipment to screaming children. The beachfront pool was slightly better but still affected by maintenance noise. The breakfast restaurant, while large, turned into complete chaos after 9 AM with no adults-only section available. ||Communication was difficult as most reception staff spoke very little English, which is unacceptable for an international brand. Only one helpful young man with glasses provided great assistance. ||I also encountered an insect problem in room 1155, with suspicious bites that didn't seem to be from mosquitoes. The hygiene situation should be checked. ||The hotel is completely oriented toward families with small children, offering nothing for couples or solo travelers. Sofitel Guangzhou proved it's possible to balance family and adult needs - why can't Sanya do the same? ||That being said, the hotel itself is beautiful with nice rooms and a wonderful location. Hainan truly resembles Hawaii where I've also been, and has great potential for international tourism. But it needs to adapt to all types of guests. I believe even Chinese guests traveling as couples or solo are often disappointed. ||Final verdict: Not worth the price for executive-level guests until they introduce proper adults-only areas, improve Club Millesime service, train staff in English, and address hygiene issues. The potential is there, but major...
