Hi everyone! The hotel is a little bit old, but it's nice, clean and the staff is very friendly, although almost everybody didn't speak English. - The breakfast was quite appropriate for a foreigner: fried eggs, french fries, cereal, coffee from a coffee machine, some fried chicken with vegetables, some kinds of steamed and baked buns, watermelon and melon, cherry tomatoes and lettuce with some salad dressings. - The room is clean, the hotel provides shampoo, shower gel, and lotion, a hairdryer, two cups, two glasses, some teabags, bottled water, and fresh towels every day. There were two bathrobes and towels for the beach with a bag where you can put your towel. We have been living in three different rooms because at first, we came for 2 days and lived in a comfortable room with a garden view 2408 on the 4th floor, it was the best room. Then we decided to move to dadonghai and after 3 days we came back to this hotel again and lived in a room with a swimming pool and a lake view 2603 on the 6th floor for 4 more days. On the last evening, two small lizards appeared in the room and we asked the staff to change the room for 1 night, they were very nice and they agreed and gave us room 1107 on the first floor with a swimming pool view, the room was for a family with a child and had some toys inside. The first two rooms had a bathtub, the third one had a shower. All three rooms were with a balcony. - The swimming pool area is awesome, very beautiful, and clean. The deck chairs were very cozy, the swimming pool was quite clean. There are some hammocks and a swing with a lake view where you can enjoy the quietness and have a rest.- The beachside is near, just across the road, the beach is clean, the sand is white and beautiful, and the sea is quite clean, there were some deck chairs and sunshades. You can have fun with some water activities at the beach too if you want of course. There are not so many cafes and restaurants appropriate for foreign people except Subway, McDonald's, Starbucks, KFC, and Pizza Hut. If there were a little bit more western food cafes close to the beachside, I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. If you want to have a lazy and quiet holiday you should go...
Read moreThis place is a prime example of how China strives to Be mediocre. |||| the staff was just 100% apathetic towards anything. I don't think they would have even bothered to pick up a fire extinguisher if they found a fire. Like I say average for China. The rooms were cleanish but with some large cracks in several of the walls, there was sand on the floor , the towels were a very dingy white and we had a smell of mold in our room. We were in the new renovated side as well. Our sea mountain view was mostly parking lot. The wicker furniture reminded me of cheap stuff you might put outside as just a place to sit in your backyard when you want to bbq.||||The food. The dining area was ok, easy to reach with a nice view of the parking lot. The food however, was terrible so we tried our best to eat out at some other places. Even my wife who is Chinese couldn't believe how they could managed to screw up cooking Chinese food. The breakfast buffet was ok with the best thing there was the fresh fruit.||||Now the beach and the swimming pool in my opinion were very nice. The beach was clean but I still left the water with pockets full of slightly oily plastic that I found floating in the water. One thing that really pissed me off was again their cheapness. They had nice beach umbrellas and lounge chairs for you to use after you paid the hotel surcharge. I swear anything they could do to squeeze another Mao out of you they would. The swimming pool however was top notch. My daughter loved it. A very nice large children wading area with fenced off deep end on either side. ||||My biggest problem was when the hotel told us that the ATM in their lobby that ate my card wasn't their problem. We had to fight with them for several hours to get them to service it as our flight was leaving early the next day. Even though they allowed it there and of course make money off of it they just wanted to pass the buck and ignore that there...
Read moreI think the hotel was a great deal. It's right across the road from the beach with private hotel lounge chairs and a resort island beautiful bay. The water is very clean with good visibility. We chose the garden view for the price and it was incredibly nice. Bed was surprisingly comfortable and 4 english channels. Hotel back area with swimming pool and lounge chairs is nice. Lake was pretty although some of the hillsides were bare. The mall with restaurants is 1.3 km away and has a shopping store where you can buy food, wine, chips, etc. 8 rmb to and from via available taxis. They put on a show in the lobby with Christmas carolers which we thoroughly enjoyed. Since we were just looking to get out of Shanghai air for 5 days and didn’t want to spend that much, this hotel served that purpose well. ||That said, you have to realize this is still China. Which means a lot of friendly “meiyo”, don't have, doesn't work, don't provide, ....meiyo. And only 10% of the food will be appealing to most westerners. Breakfast will be eggs. 90% of the girls at the service desk don’t speak any English and they couldn't grasp even google translations of the most simplest hotel type questions. But they were friendly and they tried. That's typical for china. The beach chairs didn’t have cushions but the pool area ones did. Things were loose, bathroom was bachelor clean and the main light went out, sauna and hot tubs weren't in service, minimal exercise equipment, and internet was too slow for movies. And it's not on a peninsula as some pictures show but rather a lake in the back (they cut out the land). We had to get upwind of the workers spraying the beach bar with stain since it smelled. But this is china. Since even the reviews for the $300+/ nite hotels sounded the same, I paid little, expected less, and ended up...
