Stayed here for 9 days, 7 for the community reporting aspect of the 21 day quarantine. Having lived in Shanghai for 11 years, I chose this for several reasons.
The location is super convenient. Line 2 Century Avenue is a 5 minute walk. Line 2 is the main artery of the downtown, and in line with Pudong airport and Hongqiao transportation hubs. As well as as Nanjing road, People's Square, JingAn Temple areas. But all areas of Shanghai are easily accesible via metro. By car, the location is connected easily to main transportation arteries and tunnels. I could DiDi rideshare everywhere quickly. The pickup and drop off is right at the hotel entrance.
For walking and jogging, the area is nearby the Science Museum and Century Park to the East, in the opposite direction is Lujiazui with its overhead and underground walking paths and the riverbank. The continuously developing green space along the riverbank on both sides has super jogging, bike and walking paths for miles and miles. You will be shocked and pleased at how cool it is. Local secret: Take a ferry for a scenic trip across the river for only a few rmb! Both of these are also an easy 1 or 2 stop metro ride as well. The area around the hotel is safe (as is Shanghai compared to most anywhere) and interesting for a glance at local living.
The dining choices are quite a few as well, with 96 square next door, and Century Hub mall right across the street (you can walk through the mall to get to the metro). There are bakeries, coffee shops and more in both places, or walk in the area to find many many more. Sherpa's delivery is available, or other services if your Mandarin is up to speed. Or then again the metro is right there.
The hotel itself is nice, my room well designed and clean. The staff was friendly and attentive, and English speakers were available. I chose the breakfast buffet, which was quite good with many choices, but after 9 days I wanted to hit the street and find more traditional Chinese choices. I never tried the restaurant, but based on breakfast, I'm positive it was all right.
If I was younger, and wanted nightlife, I probably would of chosen a place in Puxi. But I did take a DiDi to see a couple of live shows and got back late. No problems. There are bars nearby if that's your thing.
I haven't any negatives. But I'm pretty easy going. The bed was comfortable, the price was decent. Perhaps the room showed some signs of use, but it is a hotel after all. Highly...
Read moreStayed here for a night on point to attend a meeting and extended one night to finish some additional meetings. They double charged me for both reservation. I was told two call customer service to address this issue, as I did and was told it was taken care of, I received two more additional reservations the second day. Had to call customer service multiple times, finally was told it was because there were another guest with the same name and her booking is a double room with two guests. When I was checking out, I told the front desk about the issue, instead of offering explanation, she did no checking, no explanation, even told me I was lucky that I was charged other wise the hotel will bear the lost (how ridiculous!). I did not expect this kind of service from a high end hotel, not mentioning I am a platinum member and have being with Marriott for nine years. Other then the service, the room is old (largely because of the building I guess, they def. need renovation). Executive lounge was closed due to covid but they did offer food and drink on the first lobby as a substitute (front desk was too busy at check in, didn't tell me this, I discovered myself...
Read moreWith it being located close to 3 Shanghai metro lines, this Courtyard is probably the most under-rated one in Shanghai. Being on Line 2, it's easy to get to from either airport and the main train station. And since Line 2 is a major line in Shanghai, it's a quick ride to most of the attractions. A suggestion for the hotel would be to publish better directions to and from the metro station itself as I had a hard time initially finding the hotel once we left the metro station - part of the reason was the hotel signage facing the metro station (towards Century Link Tower) was poorly lit.
For those who might be arriving via the metro, exit through exit no. 12 (Century Link Mall), enter the mall, walk around the atrium and to take the escalator on the other side one level up and exit the mall. Once you exit the mall, proceed directly to the street lights right in front of you. You will find the Courtyard right...
