Grand Soluxe Zhongyou Hotel Shanghai — Hotel in Shanghai

Stayed here for a couple nights mainly because of a business meeting that I was scheduled to present at was being held in this hotel. ||||The rooms look fairly nice and are well maintained (everything worked). Of course, was here for business, but I do like a little view outside my window when I get up in the morning or relaxing in the evening. Here I had a lovely view of the tired exterior of the adjacent office building - basically yellow bricks (dirty at that) with some dark windows. Indeed, the only thing that kept me looking out was I never actually saw anyone working in that building and the lights were always off - finally on my last morning I did see one guy in the 30 or 40 offices that I had a view of. I felt I could finally leave knowing that it was completely abandoned....||||More seriously, the morning breakfast buffet was a real disappointment. Can't say much about the Chinese offerings, but all of the western food (sausages, bacon, hash browns, etc.) were uniformly set out at roughly room temperature. Even the hot tea was luke warm.||||One day I had to print out a boarding pass. Their "business center" consists of one computer with a printer, scanner, and fax machine sitting next to the bellhop stand in the lobby. The computer is setup in Chinese only and if you do manage to get to a website, anything you type in gets converted to Chinese characters. Finally got one of the desk clerks to help me type in my six digit airline booking code and not get it converted to Chinese (saying who knows what)! However, even he couldn't figure out how to actually print the resulting boarding pass - apparently the printer and the computer didn't actually communicate with each other (so a waste of about 30 min of my time for what should have been a 3 min task)!!||||My last day I wanted to get a cab from the hotel to the nearby Maglev high speed train station. Again a lot of blank looks when I asked the staff to arrange this - finally one of the other guests who happened to overhear my conversation translated my request into Chinese. Again if this is supposed to be an international business hotel, you'd think they'd be able to help people arrange transport to one of the quickest ways to get to the local airport.||||Overall, if you have a strong command of Chinese, you may find this hotel accommodating - if you are a western traveler, we'd strongly recommend going with the nearby Renaissance hotel that we stayed at earlier during this trip - infinitely better than this place in terms of accomplishing...

I have stayed at this hotels more than 50 nights during several years. So I have experienced bad and good. So let me review this hotel based upon accumulated stays. So this review is not only this time but also pasts ones are included. ||1. The room is adequately spacious if you stay the corner rooms. The average rooms are average. Not so wide, but not small|2. Amenities are adequate |3. The cleanup is fine|4. The water temperature of the shower is not stable, but tolerable. |5. Bathroom is rather small, packed. For some people may feel too small. The bad design point is the distance between the facet and the sink. That is too close to wash hands. fingers are always hits the sink!!! |6. The breakfast buffet was great for me until this time. But I have found several dirty juice glasses. This has surprised me. They were really dirty and you can see them when you hold the glass to lights. This really disappointed me since I was a fan of this buffet. The staff at the buffet have been great and foods are fine. The coffee machines are rather old. |7. Concierge is really up to person. At this hotel, get a taxi without local phone application is almost impossible. Since I cannot speak nor read Mandarin, I must ask the concierge to call a taxi. Some are terrible, no efforts at all, just standing, but some are great to use his phone’s application to call the taxi even though only 2times by the same person . The rest of the time is useless. |8. The shuttle bus service is great, in particular, the concierge and the driver was flexible enough to go the place a little bit away the course. I have really appreciate this service since too difficult to catch a taxi. ||So overall it is...

Grand Soluxe Zhongyou Hotel Shanghai мне порекомендовал наш китайский партнёр по бизнесу. Он представлял собой, по его словам, неплохое сочетание цены и качества, да и месторасположение удобное. В принципе, всё так и было. На заявленные 5 звёзд отель, честно говоря не тянет, разве что местами. А теперь подробнее, все плюсы и минусы данного отеля.||Плюсы.||1. Возможность бронировать номер без какой бы то ни было предварительной оплаты. Удобно, так как данную бронь я предъявлял в консульство Китая для получения визы. Правда, бронь для меня делал наш китайский друг, поэтому я не знаю, можно ли это делать напрямую из России. ||2. Относительно недорого, номер Superior (с двумя большими кроватями-полуторками) с завтраком обошёлся мне примерно в 130 USD за сутки.||3. Неплохое месторасположение для приехавших на выставку в Новый Экспоцентр. Отель расположен в районе Пудонг, до выставки примерно 15 мин на такси без пробок и примерно столько же до телебашни. По деньгам - около 20 юаней (примерно 170 рублей).||Рядом, в 3 мин пешком находится станция метро и около неё большой гипермаркет, типа нашего АШАНА или ОКЕЙ, ну, разве что слегка поменьше по площади. А ещё совсем рядом есть Family Mart - маленький супермаркет с самыми необходимыми продуктами и напитками (вкл.пиво), работающий допоздна.||4. Хорошее оснащение номеров: ЖК телевизор, кондиционер, мини-бар, часы-будильник, чайник, две бутылки воды 0,5 л бесплатно каждый день, сейф, фен, тапочки, халат, утюг, зонт (вещь очень нужная в сезон дождей (июнь-июль), да и вообще Шанхай город весьма дождливый), одёжная щётка и обувная ложка, крутой унитаз с кучей кнопок и режимов мойки и сушки пятой точки, куча всякой всячины в пакетиках (вкл. зубную щётку, расчёску и бритву), в общем, набор для жизни вполне достойный.||Теперь два пункта на грани Плюс/Минус. Вроде как ЭТО есть, и здорово, что есть, но исполнение, как это иногда бывает у китайцев, не на уровне.||1. Какой-никакой, а всё-таки бассейн. Но бассейн реально небольшой, и при наличии барахтающихся в нём 7-8 китайцев (вполне типичная, я бы сказал, обыденная ситуация), русскому в данной публичной ёмкости для плавания и купания уже тесновато и не комфортно. Опять же, время работы бассейна не самое удачное: с 11 утра до 9-ти вечера, как раз в то время, когда оставаться в отеле совершенно ни к чему.||2. Бесплатный Wi-Fi в номере. Да, имеется, да, бесплатный, но работает слабенько, сигнал неустойчивый, приходилось часто переподключаться заново.||Теперь чистые минусы, их немного.||1. Что сразу неприятно удивило при заселении (check-in), так это требование о депозите в 2000 юаней, либо наличными, либо заморозка на карте. От второго отказался сразу, прочитав предыдущие отзывы. Пришлось менять 200 USD на юани и оставлять депозит наличными. Что, опять же, не удобно, ибо при выписке из отеля, спеша в аэропорт, ты получаешь совершенно не ко времени 2 тысячи юаней, и должен либо тратить время меняя их обратно и теряя прилично на разнице курсов, либо пытаться потратить их по дороге или в аэропорту в Duty Free. ||2. Плохо говорящий по-английски персонал, даже на ресепшн. Ну, что тут сказать, это общая беда всей сферы услуг в Китае, включая таксистов, продавцов и служащих отелей.||3. Посредственный (для пятизвёздочного отеля) завтрак. Вроде поел и голодным не остался, а вот удовольствия от завтрака не получил... Ну, может быть, это моё субъективное мнение. ||4. Отсутствие русскоязычных ТВ каналов. Наличествовал лишь RT (Russia today), но на английском. ||Резюмирую всё вышесказанное. Даже не взирая на наличие вышеприведённых минусов и замечаний, общее впечатление от отеля вполне положительное. Я могу его рекомендовать для коротких командировок при посещении выставок и прочих деловых...
