I would like first and foremost, express my gratitude to the hotel manager, Miss Huang (黄经理). I suffered from a severe outbreak of dermatitis upon arriving in Shanghai and was desperately searching for medical help. Because of my limited understanding of Mandarin, I had difficulty locating a suitable medical facility for treatment of skin ailments. What Miss Huang did for me was beyond the call of duty - she assisted me by booking a medical appointment at Huashan hospital on my behalf and helped smoothen out the complications that arose while I was registering at the hospital. She even gave us a call after the hospital visit to ask how everything went, and if I was recovering well. Without her help, my dad and I would never have been able to navigate the complex procedures at the hospital. ||||I hope the management of the hotel reads this and conveys our sincere thanks to 黄经理. My dad is a regular at this branch of Jinjiang Inn, and has nothing but praise for Miss Huang's quick-wittedness and kindness.||||Location of the hotel is beyond perfect. Xujiahui metro station, supermarket, hair salon, tailor pharmacy, etc. are all a stone's throw away. Chambermaid kept our rooms spick and span everyday. Not forgetting, the rooms are really...
Read moreThis is a clean, no frills hotel in a good location with very reasonable prices, courteous, professional and helpful staff (but mostly non-English speaking) and hardwire internet access. It has a very good breakfast buffet (non-Western) for an additional 20 RMB/$3. If you're an experienced China traveler looking for a clean and comfortable room to operate out of, and don't need the services and associated costs of the western chain hotels, this is a good choice. It's on a quiet side street and within a 10 minute walk of The Line 1, 9, 10 and 11 Metro stations, from which you can get practically anywhere in Shanghai quickly and easily. Downtown, Peoples Square and the Bund are about 15-20 minutes away via Metro Line 1 or Line 10. The old campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University (as opposed to the new campus in suburban Minhang) is around the corner. There are plenty of local restaurants up the street and on Huashan Road, and the hotel is also a 10 minute walk to the giant Xujiahui shopping complex, with a variety of Asian and western restaurants in all...
Read moreWe chose this hotel because of it's proximity to SJTU. The hotel is basic with no frills but is clean and reasonably priced. We were out and about most days so the basic nature of the facilities didn't really bother us. However, we found it to be comfortable and slept well once the noise subsided. Yes, that's my one major complaint, the walls seems to be paper thin as there was a lot of noise for people talking in other rooms and passing in the corridor. We also had a regular supply of cards for call girls pushed under our door. As adults travelling with teenage children it wasn't a big problem, we just threw them in the bin. However, it may not be something you want younger children to see.||||The hotel is located not too far from 2 metro stops (the Jiao Tong University stop is probably the closest). We dragged our luggage from the Metro to the hotel, but I wouldn't recommend if you have more than a couple of cases.||||All in all we had a pleasant enough stay and, for all it's faults, I would consider this again if I wanted a...
