The hotel is conveniently located at the end corner of Xujiahui metro station (line #1) with easy access to main business districts and tourist attractions. Owned by the state, the hotel has just undergone some major renovation so the rooms are okay for what you paid for. Breakfast is acceptable at a 3-star rating. Staff are courteous most of the time, but my moment of true came with an after dinner coffee at the lobby coffee shop, where they charge 69 yuan for a cup of tea and 39 yuan for coffee. When I asked for cream/milk they added 10 yuan to the bill, without telling me. With 15% service charge, the bill can stand up to any European airport cafe with national pride. I did complain about the surcharge for the cream/milk and the auntie waitress/bartender said American coffee is always served black. Okay, equal minority rights put into good practice. The other culprit is the free wifi keep knocking out my MacBook connection, I had to connect the computer to internet via my mobile personal hot spot. Other non-Apple PCs seem to work alright. Oh, the hotel asked for a 20 yuan deposit for lending a fruit knife.||||All in all, I would not recommend the hotel for international...
Read moreStayed here for just one night in transit, but would definitely stay here again. It looked like the floor I was staying in was just being completed as there was still plastic sheeting on the carpets in the corridors. ||The room I had was in the corner of the building, more like a suite than a room, with separate sitting room. The bathroom was clean and fresh, good soap and shampoo and fluffy dressing gown. Had a really good nights sleep which was a bonus, the bed was really comfortable. ||Breakfast was busy, but a good selection with lots of vegetables etc for the locals, but also cereal, toast etc for the western diet. ||Good value, good service and well located, didn't get a chance to use all the facilities, but maybe next time if I'm in the area as I would certainly...
Read moreWorking and staying in this city for the past 10 years, finally, I find a reason to stay in this hotel while visiting friends.||The location of the hotel is fantastic with metro line and shopping malls nearby. The price is reasonable for the big room and network TV. The hotel staff are quite helpful and polite.||The only setback is the operating hour for the restaurants. Quite limited in choices and in between 10 - 11 am, you will not have anything as one stops serving after the buffet breakfast and another one only starts opening at 11 am. So my friends and I have to find a cafe outside to catch up. Don't bother to find out in the evening time as the lobby coffee/tea place is closed...
