Jinglai Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

The hotel staff (reception and room cleaning) are very friendly and efficient. Location wise it is a 10mins walk to the main Xuhui shopping district (like 美罗城) and the Metro (less than 10mins walk), which is convenient. There is also a 联华 supermarket right beside the hotel!The room was nice even though some of the furniture is slightly worn (e.g. the surface of the small coffee table has rust at one corner, and the curtain mechanism is slightly wonky). It was still a pleasant room, with basic toiletries and comfortable beds 😊 I also appreciated the late checkout at no extra charge.I do have 1 feedback which I have already informed the staff during check-out: My room's aircon/heater seemed to have malfunction - it would suddenly quieten down, before emitting a loud rumble at repeated intervals as though it is restarting (it happens every 2hours?). It was unnerving at first, but I was lazy to inform the staff and I got used to the sounds 😂, so it didn't really bother my 2 nights' stay. However it would be good to have that...

The hotel room door closing is incredibly loud, creating a resounding "bang" at the door frame. The noise is so disruptive that it will wake you up, even in the middle of the night. Last night, at 2 am, I could clearly hear the repetitive "bang, bang, bang" of doors slamming from different rooms down the hallway.The lack of sound insulation is a major issue throughout the hotel. Beyond the problematic door noise, I could also clearly hear sounds from the upper floor and neighboring rooms. The overall sleeping quality is really bad at this hotel. Apart from these noise concerns, the rest of my experience at the hotel was satisfactory. However, the disruptions caused by the door slamming and lack of sound insulation would make me hesitant to stay here again in the future. A simple change to doors with soft-closing hinges...

It's my pleasure to stay at Jing Lai hotel Selection. It's was surrounded by the local apartment, mini park, art library, catolic church, Restaurant, Metro Station which is convinience for us to walking around in the area or to city center. But for me, with carry on the big luggage is not very convinient as the didi taxi can't stop in front of the main gate as have the fence blocker special for the pedestrian and motorcyle driver.
