Weson Grand Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

Service was very good and friendly. They tried hard to help. So that is the only reason I gave two stars.

I tried two different rooms - neither had heat. The fan scraped and groaned in both rooms, but no heat out of the vent: room was therefore around 55 F in February - brrr!

Carpet was heavily stained. Shower was old and dirty: I decided it would be better not to endure the filth of the shower.

Desk was so low that my legs would not fit. No chair, just a stool. This desk/stool was not made to fit people of Western height (I am 6' tall).

WiFi was terribly slow. Was impossible to get any substantive work done: could not download any files at the crawling WiFi speeds.

Bed felt like a piece of plywood - not exaggerating at all. No top sheet, just a comforter. Pillow was comfortable.

Food was terrible. 'Chicken' was almost entirely bones. Beef was of unknown origin. About a hundred (maybe more) school children eat in the dining area at breakfast: is a madhouse at breakfast, with all these small children pawing through the buffet-style food.

No machines to buy bottled water, soda or snacks anywhere on premises that I could determine. Water out of sink was very strange tasting - definitely not good.

View out of window was of three very large smokestacks spewing who-knows-what into the air.
