Holiday Inn Express Shenzhen Dongmen — Hotel in Shenzhen

This IHG Hotel located at very East of the city of Shenzhen, pretty close to Shenzhen Fairylake Botanical Garden 仙湖植物園, and the Old popular shopping district Dongmen 東門老街.

Due to the early development around the Dongmen area, this hotel has its good time at the past, but now the building is outdated & old.

PRO/GOOD PARTS:

The Highlight of this hotel were from the Service from Reception, Housekeeping, Breakfast, even Entrance guard for renting umbrella were doing their best to serve customers, you CANNOT find those hardworking & friendly professional hospitality personnels from elsewhere, TOO BAD the hotel building itself holding down the good side.

Breakfast buffet is great, many choice & taste good.

Price meet its quality standard.

Now the CON/BAD PARTS:

The ceiling of each floor is low, overall interior is decent but DARK feeling, Claustrophobia WILL HATE this hotel building.

This hotel building was early example of Commercial + Hotel complex, which the hotel's Floor 6 & below have entrance to Commercial/Shopping area.

The Central A/C system is very terrible, it cold down the room well, BUT it ALSO PUMP the SMOKING smell into the room right away, because EVERY FLOOR HAVE an Ashtray located at front of Elevator, when I check-in there was almost a Fire cause by the cigarette didn't proper disposal on ashtray but into the trash can below it, Luckily the Lobby people quickly handle it like a champion.

Check the photos I uploaded to Google Map review (all photos are 5mb+, cannot upload at IHG website), the floor map & Ashtray shows this hotel is Classic Smoker Heaven, which is nightmare for non-smoker & nose sensitive people!!!

The room itself also have several problem:

1.The bedsheet were dirty & require UV light to identify those spots, hotel NEED to reconsider their contract with current Commercial Laundry service provider.

2.Those sitting area's cushion were full of body fluid marks, all previous occupancy must have a REALLY GOOD times around this unit I stayed.

3.The bathroom floor is CLEAN as the rest of the bathroom under UV light checking, but it might be damaged BAD from wrong Chemical cleaning product.

Luckily, NO bed bugs or cockroach during my stay, so I give pest control a thumb up.

Overall, I picked this IHG hotel for it was closest to destinations I want to visit, and I appreciate all Hotel hospitality personnel provided such a great service. But I won't return due to the Hotel Building was too outdated, and I don't think even renovation will help, let's keep this one as low budget to meet its customer...

Including last year's 1 Oct, last year's X'mas, and this Easter Holiday, this is the third time I lived in this hotel, this time I booked 3 nights. All the staff of this hotel are nice, the window view is good, the buffet breakfast is good which contains Chinese and Western styles of good and refill very fast, internal restaurant environment is good. Very quiet from other rooms or outside, every night can enjoy good sleeping. The Air-conditioner is good, the room is clean and tidy, the big room is over 200 square feet. I asked about some sightseeing spots which are quite far away, and the staff explained very clearly. Room charge is not expensive if compared with quality and service (about HK$1650 for 3 nights). Special thanks to the front office manager "Emily Chong" for the welcome check-in "fruit" and she waived my child's breakfast charge of 3 mornings. Wifi is free of charge and coverage is good, wifi speed is reasonable and fast enough. The TV set is big enough and of good quality. Every time I go to Shenzhen I will not choose another hotel. The hotel is located just less than 10 minute's walk from subway station "CuiZhu翠竹", near this subway station and opposite to the big hospital there are many good restaurants. You may asked and enjoy late check out at 1 p.m. and if some rooms are available you may enjoy early check in (before 2pm) as well. Check in service just less than 10 minutes. Evening you may also go to "筍崗Sungang" subway station, there is a big shopping centre with not many people and with many good restaurants and cheaper restaurants you may choose. "CuiZhu翠竹" just four subway stations away from "Luohu羅湖". Pillows with soft and harder quality have been provided under without requested. Canned soft drink and bottles of plain water have been provided...
