A night at the Venice Raytour hotel in Shenzen.
The hotel is ideally located next to the metro station and very close to all local attractions and sightseeing places. Also a large shopping mall across the street with a variety of nice shops and great restaurants.
But, about the hotel. It is a 5 star rated property, which it deserves, service wise but, renovation and refurbishment is needed, which they are currently doing step by step.
The Venetian theme of the hotel is shown throughout the property from arrival on and gives it an overall nice touch.
A warm and kind welcome when entering the hotel. Directly my compliments for this very friendly doorlady/concierge Crystal, who was helpful and very kind/guedt minded several times during our stay. Thank you Crystal, seems it is about time you should be promoted!
A smooth check in from another very professional receptionist, Zoey, who also spoke English very well.
Since this was a trip for us because of a special occasion we received an upgrade to a superior room on the 14th floor with a great view and nice balcony overlooking Windows of the world. (Recommended to visit Windows of the world in the evening time, after 19:30 entrance fee is 100 RMB in stead of 220 RMB offering an amazing show!)
The Wellnes area of the hotel is wonderful and the pool area is great! Free use for hotel guests. Luxury locker/changing rooms. Clean showers, free towels and slippers. Make sure to bring s swimming cap, otherwise you will not be allowed to enter the pool. The life guards have some spare ones and are very strict.
After relaxing at the pool area and getting back to our room we found some issues we were not really happy about in our room, especially the cleanliness of the carpet in the room. Front Office was aware about this situation and moved us without any problems to another, even better, room!!! 😀 Problem solved for us, we were happy, but, To my opinion, a 5 star hotel may not let this happen. Sometimes you just need to replace a filthy stained carpet when cleaning it does not do it anymore.
Rooms are well equipped and bedding is good. I very much liked the a la carte pillow option in the room. A small display with mini pillows to choose from. Housekeeping will then bring your preferred and selected pillow. Massage chair was a nice gadget, but is at charge via an App to use. Large tv flat screens with a hughe variety of (international) tv channels.
Bathroom great. Nice walk in rain shower. Good amenities, fresh white towels, bathrobes and slippers and a selection of guest supplies like toothbrush, combe etc. Well presented and complete.
When adding breakfast upon arrival a small discount applys for pre booking. It's a full buffet breakfast with a large western and Asian variety of choices. In Euro about 17,50. For that amount you may expect perhaps some better coffee and fresh juices. But, all in all not too bad but not sure if it was value for money. Also here all staff members were welcoming, kind, helpful and friendly. The young European Chef, preparing freshly fried eggs and ommelets was kind professional and made great eggs!
So yes we enjoyed our stay a lot. Some points of improvement regarding renovation and refurbishment but all in all overall it is a 5 star worthy hotel looking at the total product, service, facilities and the staff. All staff members are friendly, helpful and service minded. Also the housekeeping ladies on the guest floors greeted us friendly when walking by noticing us and paying attention to the guests.
Thank you Vanice Raytour Shenzhen for a fantastic stay. Will recommend your hotel highly and stay again on a future Shenzhen visit.

Read moreHotel check in process was quick and accurate. Lack of hotel introductions. Need to ask about the hotel info instead of being intro. But it alright. Housekeeping was very well prepared and many amenities were able to accommodate. Which was great. Even at 2am. I asked for mosquito repeller they were quick delivers. Most problem was in F&B department. So at 12 pm. I went to the bakery shop to ask for the cakes order. Ask can they send to room. They rejected. So I said ok. I will come pick up at night. I may purchase now or need pre- order ? They informed me. Preorder is not necessary and I may return at night to purchase. They close at 9pm. So I return to the bakery shop. Unfortunately cake was needed to preorder before 2pm on the day. So I wasn’t able to enjoy it. Only macaroons were available … was very disappointed since the options were not much left. The hostess also dropped and broken the macaroons I picked. Sure not on purpose. But cost me were able to enjoy the flavour I wished for. If I could have preordered this wouldn’t had happened. So after enquiring about the cakes. I headed for lunch there. Good quality had surprised me. Very nice deal in fact. $329 HKD (RMB ¥298) for two person , unfortunately the service was not on point, waiter weren’t able to serve food correctly. Also tends to not attend to tables. Dishes were not changed in every course. They fire course all at once. Didn’t clear the plates away even it was finished. We had to repeatedly asked they or clear themselves out at night as well. Dinner also had the same situation . Overall. I just think the F&B department need more training. The hotel itself is really great. Good location. Room is clean. Housekeeping courtesy’s is even better the restaurants. Ambient was really on point. Let hope not the F&B department to cause this nice hotel to close since it...
Read morePositive: The room is clean and nicely decorated. The 24H-movie package for 58RMB was a plus. Housekeeping, lifeguards, and the front desk were nice. There was plenty of space to eat and sit inside the room. They did let me have a late check-out until 2pm! Negative: They have no English newspaper in the morning (only Chinese) and the travel guides in the room aren't Bilingual (Isn't IHG a global Hotel Brand?) The shower soap isn't 4Star quality. WARNING!!!! The breakfast buffet will have an extremely long line! There was a long wait to check-out! The hotel never mentioned on TRIP that the hot tub and inside swimming pool were under maintenance and closed (the reason why I booked the hotel). Also, not all rooms have a tub! Only the $$$$ ones do! IHG members don't get a welcome drink like their other brands or are treated with respect! It seemed like the front desk doesn't care if you are an IHG member or not! Overall, Intercontinental Shenzhen is 100% better and IHG members regardless of how or where they booked the room are treated better by the staff and...
