As a platinum ambassador, I am thankful for the pre arrival greeting. Also, I appreciated the check in experience, overall. I was recognized as a platinum ambassador and given a complimentary upgrade to a corner suite with an impressive view and without asking the staff member arranged a 4 pm late checkout. As always, the complimentary drink vouchers are appreciated. The room was very clean, sanitized, and organized. Also, the room was so beautiful and the welcome fruit platter was appreciated. Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and welcoming. However, not every staff member is fully aware of the breakfast experience. Upon checking in, the staff member informed us (two people checking in) that we will have breakfast included. So, when the staff member is talking to two guests, one would naturally assume that it is for both. As the staff member kindly walked us to the room, I asked again about the breakfast offer and was told again that we would have complimentary breakfast. At no point were we told that it is only for one guest. So, the next morning as we went down to the ground floor, we were told by the restaurant staff member that it is only for one. She even admitted that it is now an awkward experience for us as two guests were there. As we called the front desk, she told us that it is only for one guest. As I told her that her colleague never told us about it, all she could do was offer an apology and that she will let her colleague know about it. As I communicated with her colleague later about it, she said that the complimentary breakfast was only meant for one guest. Later, she acknowledged that this offer was not communicated well to us. Yet, we still left the restaurant without using the one guest complimentary breakfast offer. The staff member later offered two complimentary breakfast on our next stay. So, tell me again how that would solve the issue on that day??? This is not about asking the guest to pay for a second breakfast. This is about courtesy and service where the issue is actually resolved satisfactorily as quickly as possible. At other IHG hotels where I stayed at, not only did they offer us complimentary breakfast but they also offered complimentary lounge access for two as well as other complimentary amenities. Even at competitor hotels where I also have high status, we were always offered complimentary lounge access and breakfast. So, I hope you can please accept my feedback and suggestions. The staff are really attentive. The level of English is poor, so it's best to use a digital translator.
As the hotel is mainly a resort hotel, it is very difficult to find a quiet place in the lounge, and even more so during the summer holidays (despite a sign at the entrance to the lounge asking guests to keep quiet).
It would be indeed good to have a dedicated area with phones on silent mode, no kids and no noisy conversations.

Pleasant pool area: The area is spacious, well laid out and full of plants. There's even a sandy beach.

The hotel is right next to the OCT Art and Design Gallery (and a stone's throw from Window of the World and Splendid China Folk Village, for those interested).

The hotel is conveniently located just next to OCT metro station.
To visit downtown, however, another choice would be more appropriate (unless you want to make a 20 minutes taxi or metro ride).
The hotel should definitely work to enable guests looking to relax in peace and quiet to offer this facility, notably at the club lounge.

Read moreIf u r staying in the hotel service apt, u got to read this! No doubt the hotel room is fantastic, but not the service apt if u gonna stay long term. The Lift with (button L) grd flr and 2nd flr (button M) and 3rd flr (button 2) only 3 storeys service apt behind on the East side hotel. The 1st night was a terrible night. Booked a 1 rm suite for 2 adults n 1 kid. Arrived at the hotel in the late evening and on the 2nd lvl (M) the rm was dirty, dead cockroaches lying pocketed in the sofa, live cockroaches flying in the living rm. toilet was filled with stench smell and all cabinets/drawer dirty. Flooring was cracked and timber parquet seems rotten with mould. Immediately request to change rm. Got a rm on the 3 lvl (lift button 2). Same was a 1 bedroom suite. Not so clean but much cleaner than the previous 2nd flr (M) rm. Not Advice to stay on the M (2nd flr of the service apt) the 1st Rm and the opposite Rm (right in front of the lift) were occupied Long term by the same tenant. After Sunset, the rooms will be occupied by numbers of peoples gambling, smoking, eating and talking loudly in both rooms. Even some will be smoking outside the lift area. The stretch of M level (2nd flr) is filled with smoke. This last till early in the morning daily.After few nights in the not so clean rm, finally got a offer for a much cleaner rm after long waiting request, but only with 2 bedrms suite, of course pay more for xtra room. So the journey continue for the next few weeks for 2 bedrms suite. Well, finally the rooms is rather clean except some points. To the hotel management : The daylight curtains got to wash as it was like 6 months have not been wash. The washing machine with dryer got to repair as the tumbling sound rattling along when spinning. Carpets in the rooms and living hall have to wash. All showers/ toilets area drainages need to get rid of the odors smell after every tenants check out. Pls also do some pest control every month or so. Spiders n drain fly can be found, luckily not cockroaches during our stay. Hotel amenities and convenience would rate 5 stars. Marriott service apt OCT would be a better choice for business stay.
