Kingkey Palace Hotel （Southeast Gate） — Hotel in Shenzhen

Spent a weekend with my parents to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Room rate is expensive comparing to other 5 stars international brand hotels in China.||Overall: 3/5 - check in lobby is too hot, not all staff are friendly and everything is standard. ||Room(Seaview high level-7/F) 3/5 - Seaview is far.... with a road & the beach building in front. Room is big in size but standard as per China 5 stars. I admit that I was spoiled by the space used to have in China. |(Standard twin-3/F) 3/5 - no view at all & not even comfortable to stay at the balcony.||Special service (5/5): help to arrange special decoration for my mom’s room with flowers & “happy Birthday” layout on the bed. A big surprise to mom. Thank You. |Also compliment to conceige staff, very attentive to needs of elders, help to arrange cab etc. Very friendly & warm. ||Food (3/5): tried Western, Japanese & Chinese Restaurants. Chinese one is the best. They offer promotion set via their own eshop. Good to join for bargain sales. Breakfast is good, with wide variety of food. Only downside is that food served is lukewarm. They offer good selection of fruits which is great. ||Facilities: |outdoor & indoor swimming pool (4/5): Both lifeguards are very friendly & helpful. Both pools are well managed & clean. |Gym (4/5): very quiet & nobody use at night. We have been coming to this hotel, yearly or biyearly, for many years. Coco is amazing. She has been our contact for years and she really takes good care of the guests. RoomsAre great, big, great views. Breakfast Average hotel breakfast, new options daily.WifiIs very slow, I wish the hotel could boost the signal.Other staffThey are not very helpful with information in general. They are not very polite or welcoming. The beach shuttle busNeeds to be cleaned more often. It's extremely dirty. The beach Kingkey hotel has a deal with Intercontinental to use the same private beach, which is the reason why we have been coming for so many years. Up to this year the kingkey hotel guests have been able to use the intercontinental hotel outside facilities without a problem but this year that charged and the kingkey hotel guests are no longer able to use the outside facilities. The intercontinental hotel staff was also very rude about it (they were also rude to their own guests as we observed). We saw many kingkey hotel guests arguing with the intercontinental staff. This whole experience left a very poor impression on us this time. It may also be the reason for us to change the yearly holiday destination to...

This place is pretty. Good location. The best amenity was the beach shuttle. Breakfast can be skipped. I was looking for Western options…not many and not good. Their “jams” were what I know as ice cream toppings…it was interesting. They did have good cheese but again…not worth it. The room had a not so faint mildew odor. It was the whole bathroom which takes up about 1/3 of the room. I got the Queen bed with the tub. I love baths so that was great. The view was also nice from the room. The bed was ok..a little too soft. The pool was too cold to me…so I didn’t use it. My friends tried it once. The gym was nice. There is a spa but it didn’t seem like anyone was working and the prices were insane.(They had a menu sitting out.)The best part was going to the beach by shuttle. There were some lovely hotels on the beach where I’ll look to stay next time. They did have a fun room for kids which is nice for families. This hotel is next to the outlets so if you like to shop it’s a good option. Sorry no pics of the room…it looks like the the pics they show.
