My wife and I stayed in the King Suite (2 breakfasts included) for one night (Mon/Tue) in Dec, 2024. We booked the room for just over 23,000 Asia Miles points. Need to know: American Express was accepted for the deposit. For the suite, HK$1000 was required for this. The living room curtains are power run, so don't try to force them manually. On the room card holder, there is a statement "Free flow of local beer" (see photo). What this means is that you go to the check-in counter and get one coupon for a drink at the lounge (between 6 and 8pm). You can have a coffee, tea, soft drink or Tsing Tao (330ml). The advertised price at the lounge for a Tsing Tao was RMB35. Also in the room key holder, there was the statement "advance reservation is needed" for the shuttle bus. In Chinese, it says that one day's advance reservation is needed. When we checked in, one lady spoke Cantonese and other staff seemed to have some basic English skills. The buffet breakfast was OK. There were loads of Chinese style breakfast items (noodle, oyster congee, sweet potato, corn on the cob, etc). There was a chef making omelettes. The nearby attraction is the Nantao Old City which is an easy 15 min walk from the hotel. When we left the hotel called a taxi for us. It cost around RMB75 to Futian Checkpoint (including a RMB9 highway toll). The hotel didn't seem very full, we didn't hear our neighbours at all and the traffic noise from outside was minimal. We were on the 9th floor with a decent view. The suite had a bathtub and a private toilet outside the bedroom area in the living room/study area. The wall electric fixtures had Hong Kong plug options. There were not any phone charging wires or USB plugs in the room. There was a free shoe polishing service which I only discovered after it was too late to take...
Read moreThe hotel is a good 4/5 star option for western travelers looking for accommodations that offer a balance between international clientele and local touch.||1. Breakfast buffet is plentiful and diverse. Hotel guests can feast on local soups, fruit, and various Chinese dishes. They also offer a deep selection of traditionally western cuisines (e.g., eggs, bacon, pastries).||2. Decor is modern and updated - room cabinets are new, plenty of closet space, clean and comfortable bathrooms. ||3. Free beer after 5PM is a nice touch ||But here’s why this hotel is just “good” and not great. ||1. The hotel gym is tiny. If you like to work out during vacations you’ll be disappointed. Two treadmills. One weight bench. Cramped quarters. The space definitely can’t hold more than 4 people working out at once. ||2. We were given a smoking room when we first arrived, which smelled like an ash tray. They put a air purifier in the room to hide the smell but it was ineffective. We had to change rooms. ||3. The drains in the bathroom tend to smell terrible after a couple days. We had to call housekeeping to come fix it. ||4. Small nuance - but there’s an inconvenient lack of hangers in the room for business travelers. ||Overall - this hotel is just OK. I’d recommend shopping around if you have the time. It’s a good option for those that are making a quick pit stop through Shenzhen but I’d look elsewhere if you’re...
