Shenzhen is the future. Not in the vague, Instagram-filtered sense that one throws around like confetti in European cities, but the proper, actual future. The sort where you step off a plane and feel that everything you thought was cutting-edge back home is suddenly quaint, pedestrian even. And at the heart of this futurism sits the Renaissance Shenzhen Bay, a hotel that does more than just provide a bed—it flaunts its understanding of what modern luxury can be. Firstly, the views. Oh, the views. The reception, bar, and restaurants are all perched on the 53rd floor, high enough to make you reconsider whether you’ve been living on the ground long enough. Gazing out over the Shenzhen skyline, a city that seems to have sprouted from sheer willpower and Wi-Fi, you realise that everything about this metropolis is a generation ahead of Europe. It’s impossible not to feel small, but in the most pleasurable, vertiginous sense. The bar capitalises on this spectacle beautifully: whether you’re sipping a cocktail or tucking into dinner, the city sprawls endlessly below you, twinkling and alive. It is, quite frankly, breathtaking. The rooms are a triumph of modern design and functionality. There’s a clever audacity to having the bath and shower encased in a cube at the centre of the room—it’s like a jewel on display. Thankfully, frosted glass ensures privacy, though at 53 floors up, who’s really looking? The furnishings are contemporary and smart, the sort of place where everything feels considered, from the lighting to the little touches that make life just that bit more comfortable. Service at the Renaissance is nothing short of exceptional. It’s the sort of service where you realise, mid-interaction, that the staff are quietly anticipating your every need. Nothing is too much trouble. Drinks arrive before you even realise you wanted them. Requests are handled with a blend of precision and charm that would make many a European establishment look sloppy in comparison. Location-wise, the hotel is perfectly placed. Shops and restaurants abound, providing all the stimulation you could want without ever feeling like you’re in a tourist trap. And then there are the little touches that really hammer home that you’re not in Kansas—or Manchester, or wherever you came from—but Shenzhen: tiny robots delivering room service with a mechanical precision that is somehow both futuristic and disarmingly friendly. Watching them scuttle past is oddly comforting, like witnessing the rise of the Jetsons without the anxiety. In short, the Renaissance Shenzhen Bay isn’t just a hotel; it’s a lens through which you experience a city that is striding confidently into tomorrow. From the vertiginous views to the clever, modern rooms, to service that somehow manages to be both attentive and invisible, it’s a rare example of a hotel that truly complements the city it inhabits. Shenzhen is the future, and staying here, it feels like you’ve caught a glimpse of it early.

This stay was an incredible experience and gave us an amazing weekend. Highlights. - stayed for a birthday, bay view room upgrade. Great modern room with such a nice view. - gifted a small birthday cake which was a nice gesture. - English speaking staff on hand and none English speaking proactively using translation apps to handle our needs. Check in and check out seamless. - had Taobao shipped (8 items) and staff really helped organize and unpack so we could take it away. - gym room and pool areas are nice. Areas of improvement. - I don't think the ventilation in the room was working well. A/C was fine, but no matter which buttons we pressed after a hot shower the moisture took a while to clear. Additionally there's a musky smell every time we entered the room (neither of us smoke and wonder if some time in the past someone did in the room) - trying to use the pool was not the best experience. Our own fault for not knowing in Asia we need to wear / own a swimming cap. But, I think the staff and life guard could use a bit more hospitality training. They'll just tell you that you violated this rule, so I just felt pressured to leave. Overall this is a great model hotel and in a great location in the Nanshan area.

I recently stayed at the Renaissance Shenzhen Bay and had a fantastic experience. The room was spacious, clean, and bright, with a minimalist design featuring an open wardrobe and shelves, making the space feel uncluttered and modern. The bathroom had a glass wall, adding to the contemporary feel of the room. Service was top-notch, with staff who were polite, attentive, and always ready to assist. The hotel's location is also a major plus-just a 10-minute taxi ride to The MixC, one of Shenzhen's most modern and expansive shopping malls. Additionally, there's a convenience store and several eateries right outside the hotel, making it easy to grab a quick bite or any essentials. Overall, a comfortable and well-located choice for both business and leisure travelers. Wouldn’t mind to stay here again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Renaissance in Shenzhen, and I must say that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped into the hotel until the day of my departure, the hospitality and warmth extended by the staff, particularly Cherry and Olina, made my stay truly memorable.Upon arrival, I was greeted by Cherry and Olina with a genuine smile and a warm welcome. Her professionalism and attention to detail were evident as she efficiently checked me in, providing all the necessary information about the hotel's facilities and amenities, ensuring that I had everything I needed for a pleasant stay. What impressed me the most about both Cherry and Olina was their genuine commitment to customer satisfaction. They consistently displayed a high level of professionalism, courtesy, and attentiveness, making me feel like a valued guest. They were always ready to assist with a warm smile, and their genuine interest in ensuring that I had a memorable stay was evident in every interaction. Moreover, the rest of the hotel staff also demonstrated the same level of hospitality and friendliness. The housekeeping staff maintained my room impeccably, and the restaurant staff provided excellent service and delectable culinary offerings. The Renaissance Shenzhen itself is a stunning property with elegant decor, well-appointed rooms, and top-notch amenities. The comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, and modern conveniences provided a luxurious retreat after a long day of exploring the city. The hotel's facilities, including the fitness center and swimming pool, were also maintained to a high standard.Furthermore, the location of the hotel was ideal, with easy access to Shenzhen's major attractions and business districts. Whether I wanted to explore the vibrant cityscape or indulge in the local culinary scene, everything was within reach. In conclusion, my stay at the Renaissance Shenzhen was truly exceptional, thanks in large part to the outstanding hospitality of Cherry and Olina. Their warm and attentive service, along with the rest of the staff, created a welcoming and memorable experience. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shenzhen, and I look forward to returning on...

When we saw that there was a new high end Marriott Bonvoy property in Shenzhen, we decided to do a one day staycation there and see how it was. I travel quite a bit and am a Marriott Titanium member. ||||Upon check-in we were given a normal room. I asked about a suite upgrade as a member and was told that if we waited for the last person to check-out we could have the suite. Awesome! This was all arranged by Bonnie at the front desk, who worked hard to get us the nice room and make sure it was setup before we went in. ||||Off to a good start and the rest was great too. Room was huge, about 1000 sqf. Super tall ceilings as well, way higher than most hotels. Floor to ceiling windows with great views from the 56F. It was a bit cloudy but we could see across the Bay to Hong Kong. Huge tv in the living room, nice bath tub with floor to ceiling windows (and privacy shades). ||||Lounge had great service. Not too crowded at happy hour time. It was decent, nothing spectacular but we were definitely full and happy when we left. We went to the gym 2 times, which is very big and mostly empty. The trainers gave me some pointers which was cool too. ||||Overall, this is a great new hotel in the middle of the high tech area of Shenzhen. The pool on the 45F opens in January apparently which would have been cool. We may be back at some point. Great service attitude, great brand new hardware, definitely worth a stay for those coming to this...
