Lia Charlton Hotel Shenzhen — Hotel in Shenzhen

Stayed here on business for 3 nights. Chosen as it is the only quality hotel near to our office. Good size comfortable room. Shower controls away from shower head so (unusually) one can turn on the shower and get the water temperature right before getting wet. Light switches all marked in English so did not waste half an hour faiing to turn the lights off time. English style cooked breakfast possible after I had worked out the layout of the various foods on offer - always amazed at what foreign cultures have to start their day. Staff friendly with limited English and, for that matter, Cantonese, the basics of which I learned when living in Hong Kong, as almost everyone in Shenzhen has come from somewhere else and speaks Mandarin. I was here at the hotel for my 2nd stay in September 2018. This is very convenient as i need to visit my business associates just across the street. This is a nice place to stay and if i count the cost of taxi fare in some of the other hotels i have stayed this is excellent value. Rooms are neat and functional but though not necessarily 5 Star quality. Good size though and neat bathrooms. Check in and check out is efficient and friendly and they have english speaking staff. Breakfast is fairly good for the non oriental traveller Wifi in the room works well. They have an excellent Chinese restaurant which i tried last...

The good:

1. Staff is always around.
2. Hotel is kept clean and quite.
3. My room was spacious, and super clean.
4. The hotel is always air conditioned (In such a humid surroundings - it's highly appreciated).
5. Good WiFi, yet censured (As in most of China).

The less good:

1. No fridge nor bathtub in my room.
2. Breakfast wasn't diverse, and most food was fried in high amount of oil.
3. Receptionists talked very little English if any, and it took a lot of effort to understand them.
4. Gym shouldn't be called gym. It has small variety of weights, and only a few workout...
