Mercure Suzhou Jinji Lake (Opening August 2018) — Hotel in Suzhou City

Great location, subway train is right under the hotel, go outside turn to your right and go down to 星海广场 xing hai guang chang station. Taxy from airport starts at 13 yuan plus 2 yuan per KM I think, due to traffic my ride cost 35 yuan and I just round it up to 50 yuan. Can give more if we got one of the older drivers. Train to airport is 7 yuan I think. First few stations are 2 or 3 yuan. Great noodle just down at the station at the hotel, picture attached. Noodle texture is just the best I had. Adding chili oil. Finished the broth until the last sip. Be sure to try other menu. Hotel room is great. Outside temperature was 11°C (feels like 8°C) in November 2023, and inside the room was 13°C (thank god for air conditioning set to 26°C). One of the staff member understand basic english and tried his best with translator app to guide me around the city (Wilson). The others just basically run away from me, not even trying. Overall staff understanding and effort to explain subway map and places of interest is almost none existant. We go to suzhou to find suzhou embroidery and silk at non predatory pricing. I have to find myself silk factory at nam men street 49 by the river, but the price there is even more expensive than in zhu jia jiao (680 yuan for 2kg cotton quilt with silk filling). So I didn't get the chance find good place to buy silk. Not for suzhou embroidery too. I have a great time going to wu minister's place and relaxing at the trees and by the rivers. Some elderly are singing their heart out, and some millenial having a good time joining in people who are practicing waltz in the vicinity, each out blasting their audio speaker against the other. 4 or 5 intersection just above Le qiao station is full of food stalls, I spend my whole evening trying everything out. My fav was 7 yuan baked bread with minced meat filling, baked from the dough in like 3 minutes after ordering. Still very hot and well seasoned filling. Modern and clean room.Some small disappointment is a view that can’t see much thing even I’m on higher floor because it faced to the other side, while I booked this hotel with expectation to see Pants Tower. (Suzhou Center)The location is not very close to public transportation. I walked from metro, quite far. So when I return, I took Didi to train station instead.Surrounded with construction. So not sure when those construction will be completed in the future.Oh! And one worst thing is the air conditioning in autumn. Even though it’s cold outside the building, but in the room, without air conditioning and ventilation, it’s too hot and difficult to breathe. I asked for some help so I received a small fan that can help a bit. But still not comfortable to sleep. We had an excellent stay. I decided to treat my parents to a hotel for their visit to Suzhou and this one did not disappoint. We had a wonderful stay. We slept amazing in our beds from our long day of site seeing because the hotel is located really well to a lot of must see places in Suzhou. Breakfast was splendid and a wonderful variety of foods to eat, all of which is very tasty. Hotel staff is so friendly and helpful. We only speak English and they tried their very best to communicate in English and answer our questions we had to make sure we were visiting the right places in the city. I will definitely be coming again to this hotel and my parents will be here again next...
