First, the location is top-notch. It is very near the metro. From the Central Park metro, take Exit 2B. As you exit, look to your far right and you will see the hotel. The building says LEXY/RENAISSANCE. Walk towards the right, towards the flag, cross the bridge on your left, walk through the amphitheater and then cross another little bridge and the hotel will be facing you.
You can get around Suzhou by use of the Subway. I even visited Jingji Lake by taking the Metro. Take the Metro to Dongfangzhimen and take Exit 3. You will be able to walk around the lake from there. It is beautiful at night!!!!!
Now the hotel. From the moment, I walked into the hotel, I felt warmth from all the staff I encountered. As a new Marriott Gold Elite member, my status was recognized and I was treated very well. But, I must say that I am sure I would have been treated well regardless of my status.
My room was really nice - on the club level - 1811. I had a partial view of the city and a partial view of central park. I had the best of both worlds there.
Some people have stated they feel the hotel is dated. But, I did not feel that way at all. I felt my room was beautiful and well-maintained. I could not tell that the hotel is more than 10 years old.
The room was sizeable. I was able to do Turbo Jam kickboxing exercise in the room and did not feel crowded. The room had everything that you would come to expect of the Marriott hotels in Asia. I was very happy for the two days I was there.
Also, though I do Turbo Jam, I cross train with running and used the gym. The gym was sizeable with many machines to choose from. Moreover, I liked that it had sanitizing wipes for the machines, as gyms do in the U.S. I really liked the gym.
The club lounge was also very good. I had breakfast and snacks/dinner there and the staff was just so nice and wonderful to me. Jeff, one of the interns there, was super nice and made sure I was taken care of as I prepared to check out. Also, club level members can check out in the club lounge. That is a true convenience. The selection of food in the club lounge was great. Also, it wasn't too crowded at the times that I went. It was quite relaxing.
I loved my stay at the Renaissance Suzhou Hotel and plan to return again soon -...
Read moreStayed here for 3 nights in June 2023. Overall, a very pleasant experience. All the staff I spoke to had a good command of English. The room was spacious but felt dated. I like the way the toiletries are controlled, but easily available upon request. Laundry was done according to request. Buffet breakfast was amazing, the best spread and quality by far amongst all my stays in China. The spread had western options whiles remaining true to Chinese breakfast options and not forgetting the wide range of pastries. Everyone at the buffet restaurant worked in harmony. I even had the pleasure of chatting with the chef on one of the mornings. Not forgetting to mentioned the Club Lounge. I was in awe with the variety they served during Happy Hours in the evening. Good food, desserts, fruits, beers, wine. From the Club Lounge, there is a beautiful view of Central Park. The one area that needs improvement at the Club Lounge is to serve cocktails. While they had all the necessary spirits and mixers to make cocktails, the staff do not know how to make cocktails. However, when they could not make Mojitos or Margaritas as I requested, the staff did show some effort in making some of their own concoctions. I definitely appreciated that. The only concern i had was that there was a blatant disregard for the no smoking policy inside the hotel. I stayed on the 9th floor and every morning as I open the room door to head to the elevator and every evening, from the elevator to the room, I can smell the disgusting odor of cigarette smoke. As I look on the floor, I can see cigarette ash. With so many CCTVs everywhere, I am shocked that the hotel security still allow patrons to smoke inside. This is something the management should address seriously. On a positive note, I absolutely enjoyed my time at the R Bar. Was there on a late Friday evening. There was a live performer singing English and Chinese songs, the staff were prompt and courteous and there was a good selection of...
Read moreAs a Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador, I spent more than 120 nights staying at different hotels and Suzhou Renaissance Hotel is the only one hotel so far I ask the hotel manager to send me the link to post a positive review.||The great experience starts before I step out the car, the doormen greets us warmly then offered help to our luggages. They lead us to the lobby and long the way, all the staff greeted us with a smile. I didn’t tell the doorman I wanted to check in at the lounge, so he didn’t bring me up but I m happy with the front desk. Very polite and friendly. The whole check in process is quick and smooth. We check in for three rooms, my room upgraded to a suite and the front desk even asked whether I need my PA room to be on the same floor with mine. Can see the font desk has passion when serving clients and try to cater for clients’ best interest. On top of that, every time we meet a staff at lobby, they always greet us with big smile and I can see that they enjoy working at this hotel. Good management team.||The hotel suite room is well maintained and clean, up to the standard for the price paid. The normal room is also spacious and clean. ||The hotel Breakfast comes with huge variety and the noodles station offers hot and tasty Suzhou noodles. ||I will definitely stay at this hotel for my next visit and I will recommend it to my friends and business associates. ||Keep up...
