Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside — Hotel in Tianjin

Had to go to Tianjin for several days business and as the locations were spread around the city I picked a hotel in the center to all for easy access.||The hotel is pricy compared to other hotels around and hence I expected a lot. I have been to the hotel before for a coffee and knew what to expect in the entrance area.||The hotel has a lot of staff, everybody gets welcomed at the door. Checkin was similar to every other hotel and I got upgraded to a bigger room. Magnetic key cards are of course in use.||The lifts are bit tricky to find. The hotel is supposed to be a wellness hotel and hence there is scented smell everywhere, around the elevators they used a pleasent one.||There are a couple of lifts, which should be sufficient for the number of floors, however, the lift was really slow.||Got into my room and that was mainly clean, some corners could have been better. A huge bathroom as well. The good point is, they do not use the little bottles for shampoo etc, instead they use dispenser for reuse, finally a hotel in China that takes care for the environment. Unfortunately the downside, the small was terrible, smelled like bad toothpaste.||Tried to take a bath as well, gave up after 30 minutes as the bathtub is huge. Should be pleasent for a couple but after half an hour the floor of the tub was barely wet, big waste of water to use it.||The bed was ok to sleep, had a normal night. Checked the swimming pool and the goldfish pool in the basement, which looks nice.||Next morning was looking forward to an excellent breakfast but was fully disappointed. Choices were like in any other hotel and the quality was about average and the staff was not too motivated to work. For a hotel in this price range it has to be a lot better, means different choices and better quality.||Checkout again was normal and fine and I could head off quickly.||In summary, the hotel is in a nice location with a good view but what you get does not satisfy the price you have to pay. Saving the environment with the shampoo gets spoiled by a bathtub with too slow...
