Xiamen Plaza Hotel — Hotel in Xiamen

I choose this hotel is because of it's location. It is so strategic that walking out of the hotel is Xiamen Train Station (so there is no worry of taking a late train back to Xiamen), the is an access to underground shopping mall right in front of the hotel entrance. Two restaurants on the left and right of the hotel serve cheap and delicious food. Cab is easy to flag right in front of the hotel. Public bus stand in front and opposite of the hotel, and also BRT station right in front of the hotel brings you anywhere in Xiamen for a fare of RMB1 per trip.||||I was given a room facing the construction site, so basically no view at all. Staff at Reception service counter lack friendliness. Breakfast buffet is average standard, mainly chinese food. The shower head in the room is very low, and I find it difficult to get a good shower. No hair dryer provided in the room. Other basic amenities are provided.||||Overall, if you are travelling on your own and is taking public transport most of the time, this hotel is considered to be the best option as it is right in front of the train station. I asked for a cold beer on check in. The beer arrived at my room before I did. Fresh fruit. Clean. Toilet seat spray for the nether regions is quite unncessary but kind of fun. Beds are hard in the style Chinese prefer, I'd like mine softer but I slept well. Most of all, there was a non smoking floor and no stink of stale cigarette smoke as was the case in my last hotel. Locvation is excellent right beside the train station. Breakfast OK except there is no decent coffee available. Westerners do not appreciate that oversweetened instant coffee. LOCATION: Excellent - Walk out of the north entrance of the Xiamen Railway Station and the hotel is located on the right side (less than 5 mins walk). The hotel is also near many food outlets (Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, etc, Starbucks & Domino's in Robinson Galleria -across the main road, Xiahe Rd). Breakfast@hotel: local cuisine.
