First of all, you have to understand where you are. In rural Colombia, you are not going to find A/C or 5 star restaurants. In the warmer parts of the country (like the Eje Cafetero) it's difficult to find warm water or even decent water pressure. ||||This place was a welcome respite! The water was actually hot (not just lukewarm) and the pressure was good. The lady who runs the place was wonderful and friendly, and the staff was very eager to accommodate us. The room was clean, although there were a few bugs and spiders (you are on a farm, after all). ||||There was a king bed and a futon in our room. There was also a mounted fan on the wall, which was perfect for the weather. It blew right on us in the bed, so we slept comfortably. The shower was big. The whole place looked recently renovated, but it didn't affect the authenticity of the Finca. ||||There's a nice walking path through the coffee farm, which also grows plantains and passion fruit. The environment is tranquil and lovely. The pool is very nice, and the lodge has plenty of room for large events. It's pet friendly, which was great for our dog. ||||The restaurant... First, if you read the review about "recycled" food, obviously this person has never been to the paisa region of Colombia. "Calentao" literally means "leftovers", and it's a breakfast staple throughout the region. The beans are always from the night before, and they're mixed with rice, meat, egg, and sometimes other stuff too. The food was typical of the region. It was pretty good. ||||The location was phenomenal. It's close to the Botanical Garden /Mariposario in Calarcá as well as the Parque del Café in Montenegro. There's also a nice marcado and restaurant nearby if you have a car. There are small stores and a bus stop within walking distance if you don't. ||||This is a great place to visit, far nicer than the other places you're going to find around Armenia. The people are great and the overall it was a very...
Read moreThe Coffee-Finca is situated close to the little village called "El Caimo". The Finca is built of Bambú and has a huuuuge garden where you can find all kind of fruits in. They have lots of coffee, different types of bananas, papaya, maracuya, ananas and everything you think of talking about "tropical fruits". We were almost the only guests so we got lots of attention from the staff. They were really nice and helped us with everything we needed like explaining us which bus to take and where to go and stuff and the owner (who was also the "farmer" and also served food, he was responsable for like everything) took some walks with us through his fantastic plantains and explained us EVERYTHING about cultivating coffee and all the fruits and he explained and demonstrated us the whole coffee-proccess.. the best thing was that after watching him washing, roasting, grounding etc the beans he gave us a package of fresh coffee to take back home. ||The rooms were nice and had big windows with view to the paradise-garden. In front of our room we had a terrace with hammocks to relax in. The hotel also had two ping-pong tables, some typical colombian games like "techo" and "rana", a swimming-pool and beautiful paths through the coffee plantains. ||We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. The breakfast was really good, we had fresh coffee and juices from the hotel-garden, we could choose between different kinds of eggs that were served with a freshly baked arepa and some delicious cheese. ||The dinner was also good, it was the typical colombian type of a meal where they put you loads of different things on your plate (meat, chicken, rice, potatoes, mashed potatos, plantains, tomatoes etc) and you can never ever eat it all. They always served a salad and fresh juice with the meals. The beautiful restaurant was open-air and totally built of bambú.||We'd...
Read moreWe stayed in several places during our travels in the coffee region and this was by far the best place we stayed.||||Comfortable bed, hot water (in this area is a commodity), good food and above all, a wonderful and helpful staff. ||||Our room had a nice little balcony facing the coffee farm, a much appreciated and highly efficient fan, and a king size bed. The pool was clean and very well designed. ||||The menu was true to the region and breakfast is included. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to some of our special food requests. And the hotel administrator was very friendly and was able to get us an additional night even though the place was booked solid. ||||It is best to call ahead to get directions as it is a little tricky to get there and Waze sent us to the wrong place, twice!||||We highly...
