The Finca San Diego is a wonderful place to stay; I can't say enough good things about it.||It is set among farms growing coffee, bananas, and tons of different fruit trees and flowers. We were overwhelmed by the number of different birds just outside our room, much less throughout the area. ||||The accommodations are lovely - beautiful art and other nice touches throughout. The room was very comfortable, had lots of places to put our things and hooks for hanging (one of my musts for a good hotel room). Nice seating area outside the room (another must on my list). Wifi everywhere was provided by a little connector that I could keep with my iPad (a plus for a hotel, but not a must). ||||The pool was was refreshing after a morning of walking around, and was so nice.||||We were treated like special family by Lolanda, our host. We don't speak Spanish, but she didn't mind, always trying to answer our questions. She is delightful and took us on a tour around her many flowers, vegetables and farm. She always had fresh fruit available outside our room. She picked us up and drove us back to the Armenia bus station.||||The biggest surprise was the food. We got three meals a day that were absolutely gourmet, so incredibly delicious. Each meal was very fresh, mostly from the farm, and was different every time. Each dish paired incredibly with each other, even down to the fresh juices and teas. If you really like good food - go there! ||||I would think this would be a fun place for a family or friends to rent the whole place. (Colombians are so lucky they can easily take advantage). We were traveling through southern Colombia as a couple and had the place to ourselves. The cost is extremely inexpensive. ||||Bring your own alcohol if you want it, and bug repellant can be helpful. This is an authentic Colombian finca, and well worth the effort...
Read moreHotel Finca San Diego is an amazing place, felt surreal. Our accommodation was arranged by our tour, it would be hard to stay here without a driver, or at least renting a car. It is really far away from everything, and there is nothing within walking distance but this ultimately adds to the charm. It was truly the most incredible experience. The room was very minimal, but it was fine. The owner is the sweetest woman, she did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. She doesn't speak any English and our Spanish is limited but we still talked for hours. I could listen to her tell stories all day. She made us feel like family. And the finca itself is beautiful. She gave us a tour of the farm - mostly plantains and coffee. But everything they serve in the kitchen comes from their farm - eggs, chicken, mangoes, papaya, the coffee (which was the best I've ever had), oranges, etc. The cook they have here is amazing. Everything we ate was incredible. Breakfast & dinner were included as part of our tour (not sure if it comes with the room otherwise). And it was some of the best food we had in Colombia. The dining room is communal, but we were the only guests staying here. Would absolutely recommend this finca if you're looking for a relaxing place to get away...
