Hotel Med Barranquilla Centro. — Hotel in Barranquilla

Not being familiar with Barranquilla, I was very reluctant to stay here, since it was so cheap and I didn't know anything about the area. ||But it is in a great location next to Plaza Bolivar, station for the bus system that runs along Cra 46, short walk to Museo del Caribe and future site of Museum of Modern Art.||The only hesitation would be that it is in the old commercial area that is extremely busy during the day and quite confusing with the rush of commercial activity. Some may interpret this a less than safe - but that depends on your expectations/actions and quite frankly - if you speak Spanish or not. For the adventurous traveler or backpacker, this is a great choice.||Lobby is basic - with friendly reception. Another lobby area on the interior atrium one flight up where its quieter.||Rooms are basic, but spotless with good air conditioning, room-darkening shades, cable TC - all Spanish. Bathrooms can be tiny - but have everything you need - but you may have to close the door to move from one side to the other.||But with prices in the $25/night range - its great! Building seems secure. Note - no security box in the rooms.||Breakfast included in the very nice top-floor restaurant every morning. Restaurant also good and reasonable for bar or other meals. Stay away from this place! The rooms were filthy with mould on the curtains. Went downstairs to speak with reception. Had to wait for the lazy male receptionist to finish his packet of chips before he would acknowledge us. He then tried to make a phone call multiple times. Nothing was said. He then went to level 5 while we were waiting in the lobby for 10 minutes. Once he came back down, he took the keys off the bench and went upstairs again without saying a word.

After this appalling customer service, we booked another hotel.

Mr. Lazy came down and said he can't refund any of the money due to us signing an agreement stating the room was acceptable PRIOR to check in. When we disputed that we were never advised, he replied that we never asked to check the room.

He then said we need to dispute with the travel agency but refused to acknowledge or provide a receipt that we wanted a refund. He said he can only document a 'no show'.

This place is an actual scam and I don't expect any refund from this illegal scheme posing...

Esta reseña es para que no se dejen confundir por una foto bonita y bien tomada. Averiguen a donde se hospedan y a donde los malos operadores turisticos por ganar dinero los llevan. Desde la llegada a este lugar nos dimos cuenta que sería un fiasco total. Ubicado en el centro de Barranquilla lleno de ruido habitantes de calle y muy peligroso según quienes nos transportaban se encuentra este sitio. Pésimo servicio de las recepcionistas pareciese que se les estuviera pidiendo limosna al hacer algún pedido. Zonas comunes bonitas y espacios amplios con arquitectura antigua pero muy mal mantenidas pisos manchados, vidrios supremamente sucios y obras por todo el lugar. El restaurante pintaba bonito hasta la hora de el servicio atendido por una jovencita extranjera que no sabia absolutamente nada de servicio hacia mala cara todo el tiempo y parecía una niña regañada a cada pedido que le haciamos , no se sabía la carta y no tenía idea de servicio. La comida pésima. Micro porciones, pedimos solomillo y nos dieron un pedazo de carne asada super dura y horrible entre otras cosas . Y la joya de la corona: las habitaciones, al ingresar apesta a insecticida todo el tiempo y al acercarte a las camas encontrarás que las sábanas están manchadas de sangre y gotas amarillentas de dudosa procedencia cabecera lleno de polvo y cajones de la mesa de noche llenas de telarañas y mugre en el interior. Había un sillón igualmente machado posiblemente con fluidos corporales de otros huéspedes. Un asco. Pedimos cambio de habitación y de mala gana nos dieron otra, esta vez sin nevera minibar , pedimos una y nos dijeron que la supiéramos nosotros si queríamos y sorpresa! la otra habitación estaba igual o peor que la anterior, para completar lista pesima experiencia, movimos la cama y salieron cucarachas y el horror para nosotros esa noche a la hora de descansar fue horrible.
