HOTEL OR SUITES — Hotel in Barranquilla

WON'T STAY HERE AGAIN! We stayed here one night during Carnival in Barranquilla in February of 2020. We paid $250 USD for the night. Understandably, the price was higher because of Carnival. However, you shouldn't pay more than $50 tops for these rooms (incidentally, locals pay a cheaper price). A very simple breakfast was included. However, the room had no windows except for a broken one in the bathroom that couldn't be shut. It was unflattering, small and lacked any unique style at all. It felt very cramped in places. For example, as we walked into the room the door only opened half way before hitting a shelving unit shoved into the corner. No blankets, only sheets and pillows for the beds were provided. Worse though was the service, which was mediocre at best. The manager couldn't seem to hide her distain for Americans and every little thing appeared to be too much to ask. When traveling, I try hard not to be the image of the typical ugly American traveler. However, even just the simple task of providing us with two room keys upon our request instead of just one (which you'd think would have been simple and might have even been expected since there were two of us staying in the room) drew a disapproving look from the female manager. Even when she was able to accommodate a request of ours, it seemed to take forever as she was obviously in absolutely no hurry to fulfill any customer service needs. I get that this is a third world hotel in a third world country, but if you're going to charge first world prices, then you have to provide first world service. The best thing about this hotel was the fact that the elevator doors actually closed when you pushed the door close button, Lol. It did make us laugh though as that was our favorite part of the hotel. So don't wait until the last minute or you might be forced to stay in the Hotel OR Suites in Barranquilla. DO NOT BOOK. We had reservations from Feb 17th-23rd. On the 19th the front desk told us we only had till tomorrow, the 20th at noon to check out? We also had our friend visiting from the states and his reservation canceled on him so we wanted him to stay in the room till we could figure it out. They wanted to charge us 50,000cop to bring him upstairs since they dont allow guests in after 6pm. Unless you pay them? For a room you already paid for.

This room was paper thin, VERY humid/hot. The receptionist asked my husband if he made music when he went to ask If HOT WATER worked in the shower….. which was a weird question to ask a Tourist since they dont know who he is. Ive seen past reviews of employees giving out personal information, so I was extremely nervous about this place. The rooms HAVE NO HOT WATER. and they will let you know when you go to ask. If you need toilet paper… be ready to wait 15mins till they can finally find it and bring it up to the room. I wouldn’t recommend no good service, no towels and no hot water...

El Hotel Or Suites se encuentra ubicado en el norte de la ciudad, lo cual representa una ventaja significativa para quienes buscan facilidad de acceso a zonas comerciales, restaurantes y vías principales. Esta localización permite que los huéspedes se desplacen con comodidad, lo que sin duda constituye uno de los puntos más positivos de este establecimiento.

No obstante, la experiencia en el hotel deja mucho que desear en varios aspectos fundamentales. En primer lugar, la atención por parte de las recepcionistas del turno nocturno resulta poco cordial, generando una primera impresión negativa que marca el inicio de la estadía. La hospitalidad y la disposición al servicio son claves en la industria hotelera, y en este caso se percibe una actitud distante y poco profesional.

En cuanto a las instalaciones, la habitación presenta múltiples deficiencias. El sanitario no funcionaba correctamente desde la llegada, lo que ocasionó incomodidad inmediata. Adicionalmente, los tomacorrientes y suiches estaban en mal estado: sucios y desprendidos de la pared, lo cual no solo refleja falta de mantenimiento, sino que también representa un riesgo para los huéspedes. El aseo general es cuestionable, especialmente en el baño, donde se observan manchas persistentes en las paredes y el piso, dando la impresión de que no se realiza una limpieza adecuada desde hace mucho tiempo.

El aire acondicionado, elemento esencial en una ciudad calurosa, no logra enfriar lo suficiente en habitaciones amplias, lo cual afecta directamente el descanso. A esto se suma el deterioro visible en los techos, que presentan humedad y huecos. El ascensor, por su parte, es inseguro ya que tiende a fallar, con el riesgo de dejar personas atrapadas.

Finalmente, el desayuno carece de calidad y sabor, aspecto que debería ser un valor agregado y no un motivo de inconformidad.

En conclusión, aunque la ubicación es favorable, las múltiples falencias en servicio, mantenimiento y alimentación hacen que la experiencia en el Hotel Or Suites no sea...
